Stephen Eugene JamesI am a Veteran.

of Bee Branch, AR

May 27, 1947 - June 20, 2024

Stephen E. James, 77, of Bee Branch passed from this life to Heaven on June 20, 2024. He was born May 27, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Sidney James and Doylene Bintliff. He is preceded in death by his wife, Liz James; one Stepson, Justin Story; his parents, Doylene and Dale Bintliff and his birth father, Sidney James.

Stephen was a beloved father, Vietnam veteran and attorney. He led a fulfilled life working for the Van Buren County Prosecuting Attorney's office for over 30 years. During his time in Vietnam, he was a helicopter pilot who flew many missions and was very proud to serve for his country. He retired from the Army and National Guard after 21 years of service. When he wasn't hard at work, he spent much of his time traveling with family, reading military novels and flying planes. Above all, he was a kind and generous man who valued family more than anything else.

Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Dalton (Samantha) James, Jonathan James and Stephen (Elizabeth) James; one stepdaughter, Brittany (Ryan) Reynolds; five grandchildren, Dale, Merideth, Taya, Isaac and Ava James; two step grandchildren, Bowan and Dylan Reynolds; two brothers, Larry and David Bintliff and many more family and friends.

Visitation services are Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. 2:00 p.m. at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas and funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

I remember him from ARNG, he was a good man, a good pilot, and friend to many of his fellow pilots. Sorry for the family's loss, may he rest in peace with God.

Sympathy to his family and friends. I've known Stephen for many years. I have always thought of him as a real life hero. In Vietnam he flew Huey helicopters, one of the most dangerous occupations in the army (there were over 5,000 Huey's in Vietnam with only 2,000 surviving the war). Steve was knight that always fought for what was right. He will be remembered and missed.

Stephen, Jonathan, Dalton and the entire James and Bintliff Families, I am heart broken to learn of Steve's passing. I worked for him many years in his private law practice. He was an exceptional attorney and did so much for so many people. I am praying for all of you during this difficult time.

The video is a wonderful tribute to Stephen. I worked for him in his private practice, as his deputy Clerk in the Municipal Court, and as his assistant in the Deputy Prosecutor's Office. We worked some tough cases that certainly brought us together. He was like a brother to me. He was kind and very generous under his facade of a serious defender of the law. I will miss him but I am assured he is at peace and once again flying high. He did love to fly planes and helicopters. He could talk planes, army, and military for hours. He also loved to tell stories. He was an important person in my life and hope to see him again when it's time for me to go. Blessings and comfort to his loving family. i will keep them all in my prayers.
