Cecilia (Binz) Bauer, 99, a resident of Paris, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Charleston.
She was born January 15, 1925, in Paris to the late Carl and Veronica (Gack) Binz. Cecilia spent her working years in various roles, most importantly as a homemaker raising her children and helping with her grandchildren. Along with her years devoted to her family, Cecilia also spent time as an in-home caregiver and with the kitchen staff at Subiaco Abbey. Cecilia was talented in many ways, a few of those being her green thumb which she used in her flower and vegetable gardens and her natural gift as an artist. You could see her ability as an artist through her sketching, drawing, sewing, quilting and watercolor painting. Along with her natural talents, Cecilia enjoyed playing dominoes, dancing, bingo, crossword puzzles and winemaking. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mother's Society and Quilter's Guild.
In addition to her parents, Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence M. Bauer; a daughter, Mary Catherine Schluterman; a son, Larry Bauer and a brother, Norman Binz.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Bauer of Paris and Tommy Bauer and wife, Dava of Paris; two daughters, Margaret Forst and husband, Louis of Alexander and Evelyn Bauer of Paris; 15 grandchildren, Darlette (Schluterman) Ewing, Dwayne Schluterman, Michael Bauer, Aaron Bauer, Audrey (Bauer) Roach, Tracy (Bauer) Bradley, Manda (Forst) Wood, Alan Forst, Alexandra Forst, T.C. Bauer, Valarie (Bauer) Davis, Taylor Bauer, Heather (Babb) Heil, Terry Babb and Josh Babb; 15 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2024, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris. Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris officiated by Fr. Reginald Udouj, O.S.B., Fr. Polycarp Ssebbowa and Rev. Jacob Roach. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Schluterman, Michael Bauer, Drew Davis, Tracy Bradley, Alan Forst and T.C. Bauer.

Cecilia was my mother in law for 28 years and she was the absolute Best. An amazing woman who I’m sure is dancing in Heaven with her family. God sure broke the mold when he created that beautiful soul. She is very loved and will be so missed.

Prayers to her family in this hard time. She was a wonderful lady. I took care of Cecilia at greenhurst, she always was busy doing something. Either bingo, coloring, or doing crossword puzzles.
