Frank Liggett Hugus, Ill, husband, father and veteran, passed away on June 7, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on May 18, 1947, in Long Branch, NJ, to parents Margaret and Frank L. Hugus, Jr., and grew up in Freehold and went to Freehold Regional High School until 1965.

Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. His service took him to Great Lakes, California and eventually Guam. Frank married Nancy Neill in October 1969, and they returned to his beloved California in 1972 where he graduated from San Jose State University.

Alongside his devoted wife of 54 years, Nancy; Frank's career in food service (Dole Pineapple, Del Monte and Nakano Foods) started in California and took him to Hawaii, back to California, Maryland, Illinois, and concluded in California finally retiring in Arizona and most recently Arkansas. They made many friends and had many memorable experiences along the way.

Frank was a loving father to Nicole Hugus Watson, and Frank L. Hugus IV (wife Jennifer). He adored his grandchildren, Calvin Watson; and Frank L. Hugus V and Ruby Hugus; he is also survived by brothers Paul (wife Karen) and Robert (wife Sue) and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Frank was known for his love of golf and sports and was an avid cyclist in his senior years. His wry sense of humor was a source of amusement for those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Frank's life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, with an off-site reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
