SGM (RET) Robert E. Ferrand SR, age 92, of Mountain Home passed from this world to his eternal heavenly home on 06/07/2024.

Robert was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 16, 1931. He enlisted in the Army in 1948 and bravely served his country. Robert valued his service highly leading to him obtaining the rank of Sergeant Major. As an infantry soldier he served and defended his country both in the Korean & Vietnam wars.

During the Korean war, he served with the 2nd infantry division, being engaged in numerous combat missions as well as The Battle of Heartbreak Ridge. During the service of his country, he received numerous awards and citations. Among them the Combat Infantryman Badge CIB (2nd award), Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Metal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters).

During his career, he served at numerous bases both state side and overseas. Among his overseas assignments were tours in Germany, Turkey, and Japan. He retired in 1976 with 28 years of active military service.

He is preceded in death by his father, Orville Ferrand, mother, Mary Holler, three brothers: Tom, Jack, and Donnie Ferrand, His first wife Louise C. Ferrand of 44 years, and his second wife Marilyn A. Ferrand of 24 years. He is survived by his sister Patricia Banks, his son MAJ (Ret.) Robert E. Ferrand Jr. (Stephanie), His daughter Renee M. Schlink (Joe), stepson, Dr. Tom Johnson (Pattie), stepdaughters Kathy Regan (Mike), Cindy Tipsord, and grandchildren Joshua Schlink (Laura), Christopher Ferrand (Emily), Jeremy Schlink, Sydney Ferrand, and step grandchildren Lauren Hancock (Derek) and Jim Houser (Meagan). Also surviving are eight great grandchildren: Sofia, Olivia, Isabella, and Nicholas Schlink, Kynley, Nora Ferrand, and two step great grandchildren Reece and Gwynn Hancock. He is also survived by a host of loving step grandchildren, step great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of the Ozarks (Angela Berry), Hiram Shaddox health and rehab, and Elite Home Health (Katrina)

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 15 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Robert will be laid to rest at Baxter Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, or Elite Home Health
