Emma Sue ''Molly'' Hurley, 92, was born on July 4, 1931, and passed away on May 20, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents, James Lafayette "JL" and Mable Moore; her sisters, Minna Lou and Rosa Lea Moore Berry; and her brothers, A.B. Moore and James Moore.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Jane Hurley; and her beloved grandson, Joseph, who brought her much joy.
True to her birth date, Molly was a firecracker. Her sense of humor and ability to tell a story kept people laughing. From her upbringing in the Barrens community to the caregivers she had at the end of her life, people always commented on how fun she was to be around, enjoying her entertaining stories. She didn't hesitate to give her opinion about what was on her mind, and didn't think the words ''unsolicited'' and ''advice'' should go together in a sentence.
Before she married, she and three of her girlfriends from Clinton got an apartment together in downtown Little Rock where they found jobs and enjoyed the social life of the big city. When they had their fill of work and fun, they moved back to Clinton.
She and Charlie had an entrepreneurial spirit. They had a series of overlapping business ventures, including chicken houses near their early home in the Barrens Community where they also raised free range turkeys for a time. Charlie was a talented and meticulous wallpaper hanger and Molly was his able assistant. They hung wallpaper all over Van Buren County, including the Fairfield Bay houses being built during the development of that community. They purchased land along Hwy 95 East and divided it up into lots which they sold, building two of their homes on that property. Over the years, they enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas. One time they decided it would be fun to stay out there a bit longer, so they loaded the wallpaper hanging supplies and picked up enough wallpaper jobs to fund an extended vacation. When Molly was in her sixties, she took classes to become a CNA. She worked part-time for a home health agency and enjoyed visiting clients in their homes. When she needed caregivers later in life, she didn't hesitate to give them instructions on how they needed to do things, pulling out her CNA certificate to validate her knowledge.
She had a full life with many friends who were welcomed into her home for card games and dinners that included her locally famous chocolate sheet cake. She will be missed, and remembered, by those who knew her. Especially on the Fourth of July.

I have the most fond memories of Aunt Sue! She always came around during my high school years when I lived with Granny & Grandad Moore. She had a lovely way of always keeping you on your toes and being a “cool aunt”. She also would never let me drink any of her “medicine”; so one day I tried it. I would sincerely like to know who prescribed that! RIP Aunt Sue we love you!

Just getting this news, truly loved our Aunt Sue..she is everything you mentioned and more..a pioneering spirit for sure. She taught me all about growing and "turning out" taters..an amazing spirit..I am so grateful to have known her.

So sorry to hear Molly had passed away. She was a great lady. Always caring about others. Eugene was always eager to visit her and Charley(as she called him).
There were several first that Eugene and I got to do with them.

Molly was very sweet. She let me stay at her house when my husband Michael Gibbs was in the hospital. She made me oatmeal and toast for breakfast. I had never met her before but she was so nice and treated me like family.

Some of my favorite childhood memories are visiting with Molly & Charlie. My mom (Maudean) was one of the other 2 who moved to LR w/her in the ‘40’s & she loved to tell me stories about it. Molly encouraged me to push boundaries & stand up for myself. She was definitely one-of-a-kind & will be missed by many. Please give my mom a big hug when you get there. I love you, Molly, and will never forget you.
