of Searcy, AR
February 12, 1934 - June 1, 2024
Reverend William (Bill) Thomas Hughart, 90, of Searcy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1 at 5:36 AM after a brief battle with cancer. Despite the physical challenges of his final days, his unwavering faith in God remained a testament to his lifelong devotion. Now in the comforting presence of his Creator, his body is restored, and he has received his eternal reward.
William was born to Andy and Maudie Hughart on February 12, 1934, in Greenwood, Arkansas, the sole cherished son of six children. He often delighted in sharing heartwarming stories of his family tales of hard work, laughter, and the joys of simpler times. Beyond his gift of storytelling, William was an avid outdoorsman, fantastic breakfast chef, skilled handyman, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Above all, William was a lifelong servant of Jesus Christ. He accepted the call to vocational ministry in 1962 and served faithfully as a pastor and evangelist for over six decades, spreading the Good News far and wide. Together with his beloved wife, Patty, he was ordained in the Assemblies of God in 1970. Through their joint ministry, countless lives were touched and transformed by their dedication and steadfast obedience to the One William lovingly referred to as his ''kind and gracious heavenly Father.'' Most recently, until his passing, he served on the pastoral staff at Searcy First Assembly of God.
William is survived by his wife of 71 years, Patty Hogan Hughart, of the home, and sister, Nancy Parsley of Searcy. His legacy lives on through his three children, Judy Cranford of Morrilton, Dale Hughart of Walnut Ridge, and David (Sheryl) Hughart of Cebu City, Philippines; four grandchildren, Keith Gibby, Anthony (Liz) Hughart, Stephanie de la Cruz, and Aubree (John) Hughart-Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Ella Hughart, Blake Hughart, and Elisa Hughart; and several nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his sisters Esther Hughart, Lorene Moran, Frances Nick, and Kay Goddard, as well as his daughter-in-law, Gala Hughart.
The Hughart family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate care team at Elite Hospice and Providence Assisted Living for their unwavering support in honoring William's wishes to pass peacefully at home with his beloved wife by his side.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday, June 13 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. I met the Hugharts in 1959 when I pastored in Fort Smith. I have never known him to waver in his faith and work for his Master. They have been a friend and support of Regina and I through the years. I am glad they got to enjoy Searcy First. Our prayers are for God to fill you with His comfort.
I've known Bro. Hughart since I was an early teen. He was an admired man of Faith and above all his integrity is impeccable. We crossed paths again when he moved back to Searcy and he was still the Godly Man I knew. We worked together and served together to help people in their time of need. I miss him already and will for the rest of my life. My heart and prayers go out to Sis. Patty and her family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Sis. Patty you were definitely "His Sunshine".
