Gladys Virginia Ausbrooks

of Mayflower, AR

July 22, 1934 - June 2, 2024

Gladys Virginia Ausbrooks, of Mayflower, Arkansas peacefully crossed over into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at 89 years of age.

Virginia was born to Emmett and Kate Springer on July 22, 1934 and was raised in Mayflower where she lived for all but five years of her life. She married her one true love, Bill Ausbrooks in 1952 and became a wonderful mother to their four children.

Life was not always easy for Virginia. She lost her mother to childbirth at the age of 4 and was raised by a single father with the help of her older siblings who provided her a wonderful example of how to be a mother. Virginia took that example and poured her motherly gift over everyone who knew her, so generously loving many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and church members' children along the way. Virginia had a warm and caring aura that was felt by everyone who was fortunate enough to be loved by her. She was a gifted cook and her recipes became legendary amongst her peers-particularly her pies and cakes. Bill and Virginia lost their home of 56 years in the 2014 Mayflower tornado and with it, many memories, but their love story continued as they moved and created new memories in new places around Central Arkansas. Eventually, life led Bill and Virginia to Presbyterian Village where they were cared for until God called each of them home, Bill just 14 weeks before his bride. Virginia truly could not live without her soulmate.

Virginia was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine ''Kate'' Springer; her father, Emmett Lee Springer, Sr.; sisters, Adie Jane Hughes, Polly Satterfield, Mozelle Whitley and brothers, John Luther Springer and Emmett Springer. She is survived by one sister, Rosa Lee Shirley (Coy); three sisters-in-law, Corine Creasey, Shirley Hamilton (Reggie) and Virginia Springer; her four children, Billie Cartwright (Kenny), Sheila Carver (Larry), Pamela Morton (John) and Mark Ausbrooks (DJ); six grandchildren, Tobie Jost (Mike), Brad Cartwright (Angela), Brandy Nesselrodt (Doug), Courtney Griffith (Carl), Nealy Wells (Adam) and Clarke Ausbrooks; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Alexie Thompson, Ty Morris, Kade Cartwright, Presley Morris, Weston Griffith, Stevie Nesselrodt, Scout Nesselrodt and Augusta Wells.

Virginia leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and nurturing and a family who will forever miss the dynamic duo that were The Ausbrookses.

The family invites you to a celebration of a life well-lived. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, followed by a graveside service all to be held at Mayflower Cemetery.

So much fun growing up together. She was always a ray of sunshine. I cherish the times I spent with her at School Reunions and the big 50 Wedding Anniversary for Virginia and Bill. What a Happy Day when they were re-united. May the family find strength and comfort in God's enduring Love.

We all knew it, that all of heaven and earth couldn't keep Bill & Virginia Ausbrooks apart.

My heart is absolutely crushed, but I can't help but smile, even chuckle, at imagining the antics the reunited comedy duo of "Ausbrooks & Springer" are up to. Lord have mercy on the angel choir trying to make it through rehearsals.

We are sorry to hear about Virginia. We thought they were staying with Pam. Wish we had known and we would have gone to visit Bill and Virginia at Presbyterian Village! I know she is happy to be in heaven! Bill and Virginia were so faithful at First Baptist, Mayflower! I wish you would have her service at the church! We send our love and prayers!
