Prayers for the Family! Shorty was a great mentor and friend to me! In the 17 years I worked with him at the Chevy place he taught me many things!
How to build Carburetor’s among many other things.
He is the only man that could get away with throwing a M80 firecracker under the hood when all 6’6 of me was under the hood pulling a intake with fuel everywhere!!! He would laugh cause it was pretty funny watching me try and get out from that engine compartment.
But he knew they would be payback!
I have many stories but most of all he was a veteran and family man! It was a honor to learn and work with him.
Love

Cabel and Ila Ruth, I know where we met; but I don't remember exactly when we met. I just wish it had been sooner in my lifetime. Cabel, you told me so many stories about your time in the Navy during WWII and how you asked to be assigned to the position of cook on the ship where you were stationed. You described your garden to me every year and how proud you were of that lawn mower of yours. Can't forget that precious car either. You always had your coffee cup with you; and when you made a fresh pot, you never failed to tell me to see if I wanted another cup. Ila Ruth, as you said today, you and Cabel became substitute parents to me. I am so blessed for that. So to you, Ila Ruth and your entire family, you have my heartfelt sympathy. He had a long life. He had a good life. Love you.
