Howard H. Welch, 89, of Conway, Arkansas passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was born on September 2, 1934 to the late Archie and Della Welch.

Howard was a veteran of the United States Army and faithfully served our country in the Korean War.

After serving in the Army, Howard returned home and began a lengthy career as a machinist. Howard retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 42 years of service, working as a machinist for the railroad. In his spare time, he loved growing a garden and raising vegetables which was his passion. He was also an avid Crappie fisherman which was one his most enjoyed hobbies.

Howard was also devoted to his faith and he was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Conway.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary ''Louise'' Welch. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Lee Welch, whom he loved very much and always took the opportunity to honor her life and memory.

He is survived by two sons, Randy Welch of Conway, and Charlie (Claire) Welch of Sherwood; one daughter, Valerie (Tommy) Marley of McEwen, TN; three grandchildren, Brittany Marley (Tomas), Brandon Marley and Taylor (Matt) Martindale. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00AM at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00AM. Burial will follow the service at Edgewood cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

My condolences to the family.. I worked with Howard for many years at MoPac & Union Pacific , you couldn't meet a nicer guy , always a smile for everyone.. When you work with someone for 30 years , they are like family.. RIP my friend..

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Howard was a regular visiting our house, whether he was fishing or just hashing out the world problems with my husband, Tony. There were times they didn't agree! Howard's garden fed many people through the years and I always loved seeing his produce for sale sign go up.
