I served in the Army.
David L. BrewerI am a Veteran.

of Mt. Vernon, AR

July 30, 1946 - May 11, 2024

David L. Brewer, 77, of Mt. Vernon, Arkansas was called home to his Lord on May 11, 2024. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas on July 30, 1946 to the late Vardmon Waldo ''V.W.'' Brewer and Dorothy Avaline Terry.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters-in-laws, Barbara Fowlkes and Cleo Brewer, nephew, Greg Brewer and great-great-nephew, Reef Sebourn.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy Brewer; sons, Brad Brewer (Christian) and Chad Brewer (Suzie); granddaughters, Hayley Duncan (Michael), Katie Sullivan (Jared) and Morgan Brewer; great-grandson, Aiden Duncan; brothers, Daymon Brewer (Patsy) and Waymon Brewer; sister-in-law, Rita Starkey (Donnie) and brother-in-law, Robert Fason (Donna) and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins that he loved dearly.

David spent his career as a truck driver with an impeccable safety record. He enjoyed landscaping and gardening and like most Brewers, he worked tirelessly to keep his home and vehicles in tip-top shape. He enjoyed traveling with Kathy and they spent many hours and miles following their grandkids to support all that they do. He had a kind heart and was a friend to so many. He was never at a loss for words and talked to strangers like he had known them his entire life. This ability earned him so many friendships and he cherished each one. He genuinely brightened the day for those around him.

He had a terrible dove shot, but looked forward annually to going hunting with Chad, Michael and Aiden. He was so proud of Brad, Christian, Chad and Suzie for all that they had accomplished and loved to brag about them to anyone who would listen. This was equally true for his granddaughters and their husbands. His favorite title he ever wore was, ''Grandad''. He will be remembered for having a kind heart, cherishing Kathy and their marriage, loving his family and molding Aiden into the little man he is. We are sad knowing he will miss the births of his upcoming great-grandchildren, Connor Alan Duncan and Sadie Kate Sullivan, but the stories they hear of their late ''grandad'' will follow them throughout their life.

A visitation will be held in the Chapel at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services are being held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 10:00am at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas.

The pallbearers will be Michael Duncan, Jared Sullivan, Terry Brewer, Paul Brewer, Mark Brewer and Sid Davies. An Honorary pallbearer will be his blessed great-grandson, Aiden Duncan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 5 Garland Springs Road, Mt. Vernon 72111.

I am sorry this is so late, The ladies in the front office of ARKO (now SFI) would have a visit or two per week by David. I'm assuming it was his breaktime because he came looking for piece of cake or whatever we had in the office breakroom. He always had a smile on his face and loved to talk and carry on with all of us while sitting on the corner of one of our desks giving us the low down on what was going on around town. I truly missed those visits when I changed jobs.

May the family have peace and comfort in all the days ahead. David was a kind and funny man.
The world is better off because he was here!

Dear Cousins, on behalf of the Moss family, please let me give our condolences on your loss. Is it no secret that my Granny, Madine Moss, loved your whole family. We all do. Some of my daddy‘s favorite memories are getting to visit the three Brewer boys. I know that you will miss David terribly. He was a character. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a smile on his face! He made you happier just by talking to him. That was his gift. Our family is lifting you up in prayers and want you to know how much we love you. We are so sorry for your loss.

David was a huge joker, someimes I didn't know if he was kidding with me or telling the truth! If it weren't for Kathy to shake her head no, I might have believe what he was saying and most of time Kathy was shaking her head "no"! Them two went together like salt and pepper, you have to have both to make the dish good! Everytime I would talk with David at a basketball game he always asked me, "Did you play basketball" Yes, David I played basketball. He watch me and my kids play for Mt Vernon and cheered them on like they were his kids! Thank you, David! I have had the pleasure to work with David at the food pantry, he is so giving! I believed if someone needed a shirt, he would give the shirt off of his back and maybe his pants! Thank you,David - for showing me kindness and giving! You have touch my heart, your spirit will shine in all the people you have touch! I will miss you, dearly!

Kathy, I don't have to tell you that David was one of a kind. You got to see this first hand and every day. And I don't have to tell you how much he was loved. There was no way not to love him once you met him. I'm so so sorry and my heart hurts for you and the family. His smile and kind words and yes, his silly side, will be terribly missed! But he leaves us all with a lesson on how to be a friend, a mentor, how to lift one up when they are down, and yes a good Christian. He definitely left his mark and the world a better place. We are keeping you all in our prayers!

Dear Brewer Family, you all have our deepest condolences and prayers, may God surround you with His precious peace and amazing grace. Knowing David was a joy and he’ll certainly be missed. A poem for all;
A life well lived is a precious gift
Of hope and strength and grace,
From someone who has made our world
A brighter, better place
It’s filled with moments, sweet and sad
With smiles and sometimes tears,
With friendships formed and good times shared
And laughter through the years.
A life well lived is a legacy
Of joy and pride and pleasure,
A living, lasting memory
Our grateful hearts will treasure.

Big Daddy was always one of my most favorite cousins and I never saw him without a smile and his hand out to greet me. He was a roll model and never did we leave each others presence with out " I love you cuz, see you later."
I sure will miss him, but he's breathing the air of heaven and life has just begun.
Until we meet again "I love you cuz, see you later!".
