Verlie Etta Jennings, age 103, of Twin Falls, Idaho, formerly of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was born in Searcy County, Arkansas on September 20th, 1920 to John Alexander Harrell and Martha Ochie Leslie Harrell. Verlie married Duvol Bryan Jennings on September 10th, 1937 and they raised two children, Delores and Larry.
Verlie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who was the heart and soul of her family. She and her husband operated the first Grade A automated dairy farm in Searcy County, beginning in the mid 1950's. She and Duvol worked side by side on the farm all the years of his life. They never left each other's side. When you saw Verlie, Duvol was always close beside. They enjoyed dancing together and were known for going to dances on the weekends. Verlie was a devout Christian and read her bible often. She attended the First Baptist Church in Marshall for many years. She was a terrific cook and no one ever left hungry after being at her home. Verlie will be missed greatly by all those who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Larry Jennings and wife, Tammy of Marshall and Delores Peterson and husband, Hubert Charles Peterson, MD of Liberal, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Bryan Jennings (Jessica) of Nantucket, MA, Leah Jennings-Johnson, DMD (Duncan), Leslie Jennings-Harper (Chad) and James Jennings all of Fayetteville, AR, Lucas Jennings of San Francisco, CA, Zoe Jennings of Salt Lake City, UT, Alex Jennings-Coffman of Jonesboro, AR, Cheryl Peterson-Wheeler (Seth) of Twin Falls, ID, Kirk Peterson, MD (Carrie) of Twin Falls, ID, Alan Peterson, MD of Lewiston, ID and Judge Clinton Peterson (Fernanda) of Liberal, KS; seventeen great-grandchildren and siblings, Nancy Ruth Harrell Yocham of Marshall and Tom Harrell of Mesa, AZ.
Verlie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ochie Harrell; her husband, Duvol Jennings and siblings, Gladys Martha Brunner, John Dee Harrell and Sam Sawyer Harrell.
Funeral services for Verlie will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas. Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Gardens where Verlie will be laid to rest beside her husband, Duvol Bryan Jennings, who passed away in 2010. Bearers will be James Jennings, Lucas Jennings, Clint Peterson, Calvin Peterson, Clint Peterson Jr. and Duncan Johnson.
