Maxine V. Latting, 95, of Batesville passed away Monday, April 8, 2024.
She was born February 6, 1929 in Cord, Arkansas to John Ruben Latting and Lucy Olen (Churchill) Latting.
Maxine was a member of First Baptist Church of Batesville and a member of the Extension Homemakers Council (EHC). She was a graduate of Cord High School's Class of 1946 and went on to attend Arkansas College. She taught school and was also a Librarian for 39 years split between Strawberry, Cord, Mississippi County and Benton Public Schools and is a member of Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. Maxine was truly one of a kind, she was very intelligent and had a great memory, and she never met a stranger and loved genealogy which always prompted her to inquire about who you were related to. She would always go out of her way to help people. She also loved to cross stitch and knit. In her later years she became a volunteer at White River Medical Center logging over 6000 hours over the span of her 21 years serving the community.
Survivors include her niece, Leslie Latting of Cord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Floyd Ray Latting; sister-in-law, Peggy Mack Latting; and nephew, Floyd Mack Latting.
Graveside services will begin at 10:00am Friday, April 12, 2024 at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville with Jeff Childers officiating.

Maxine was such a dear person. I always enjoyed visiting her at George and Rosemary’s. She will be missed by many.
Dear Leslie, I volunteer at WRMC and spent time around Maxine. She was a super lady and I enjoyed being around her. She always talked about you, and I know she loved you very much. May God give you peace and comfort your heart. love. Connie Davis.
I worked as a student aide for Miss Latting at Eastside Junior High while in the 7th and 8th grades and again at Benton High School in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. She was always kind and easy to talk to. One of my favorite teachers. Prayers for her family.
I didn't see Miss Latting very often, but she always knew who I was and we would have a nice little chat. She was a very sweet lady and will be missed dearly.
I had known Maxine , all my life . She was a smart person always friendly and kind . I know her friends and her special,
Niece will miss her . She lived A long life and loved the years she worked at the hospital .
I am so sorry to hear about Maxine. I always enjoyed visiting with her at the hospital. Praying for peace and comfort for her family members.
