of West Memphis, AR
February 16, 1970 - March 30, 2024
Tari Ann (Schaumann) Smith passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 30, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She had been admitted to St. Francis on February 8th and put up a valiant fight against a rare form of lymphoma cancer. In the final days, many of her family and friends were with her to show love and support.
Tari was born in Springfield, Missouri on February 16, 1970 and graduated from high school in West Memphis, Arkansas. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business/Accounting from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro in 1993. She was married in 1994 and from that marriage she had two amazing children, her son, Mason McLane and her daughter, Makenzie Dalton. Her children were first priority and gave her life purpose, passion and inspiration.
Tari held different positions of employment during her working career. All of which were associated with her specialty field of business accounting and administration.
In addition to Tari's dedication and devotion to her son and daughter, she also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In recent years she, Mason and Makenzie shared time at family reunion gatherings at Hot Springs, Branson and Kentucky Lake, where members enjoyed horse races, boating, swimming, good food and the occasional two-step.
Tari has long been a radical Razorback supporter and attended or watched "The Hogs" games with dedication. She really enjoyed the time Mason spent in the University Marching Band, which gave both her and Makenzie the opportunity to cheer on two of their favorite things at once. She also cared dearly for her fur babies. Her dogs became a big part of her daily routine, especially after the kids both left home to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Tari is survived by her children, Mason and Makenzie; mother, Reta Taylor; father, Sam Schaumann (Deborah); sisters, Traci (Schaumann) Reeves (Aaron), Leesa (Schaumann) Peebles (Koby), Haylee (Schaumann) Jenkins; brothers, Jason Engelbrecht (Mandy), Jeff Engelbrecht (Shana); as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services for Tari will be held at the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Memphis on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the West Memphis Animal Shelter or the charity of the donor's choice.

My heart goes out to all of you and I’m so sorry for your loss. She was an amazing person and mother to you both. I always kept in touch with her and sent her pictures when they were young. I will always remember being at Ms Rita's and the lasting friendship our boys made.
