Richard Brown, 83, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday, March 29, 2024. He was born May 25, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to Reynolds Irving and Eldred Odessa (Kirkpatrick) Brown. He was a high school graduate of South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas, the class of 1958.
He married his best friend's sister, Rita Marie Ferguson, his childhood neighbor, on December 9, 1960 in Beaumont, where they lived until 1985. Together they raised four boys. He moved to Harrison 38 years ago with his wife and youngest son. He was a third-generation master plumber and worked locally for ten years at NARMC in the engineering department. He enjoyed fishing, dove hunting, Little League baseball, watching football, card games, dominoes and traveling with his family.
Richard was a member of Grubb Springs Baptist Church and is survived by his wife, Rita; their four sons, Bryan Wade (Olivia), Bradley Warren (Frances), Barry Otis Lee (Lisa) and Jarrod Taylor (Candra); one sister, Gloria Jean (Joe) Koshkin of Houston; nine grandchildren, Bryan Leslie Brown (Erin), Dalton Allen Brown, Matthew Ross Brown (Kailey), Nicholas Ray Brown, Joshua Richard Brown (Brittany), Bryttany Rachel Wheeler (Jamie), Taylor Irving Brown (Bethani), Lara Rebecca Brown and Callie Brooke Ingram (Lloyd) and 22 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Haley Elizabeth Brown.
The visitation was Thursday at the funeral home.
The funeral service was Friday, April 5, 2024 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with his sons officiating.
The interment was in Davidson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard and Rita's grandsons, Bryan Leslie Brown, Matthew Ross Brown, Taylor Irving Brown, Nicholas Ray Brown, Dalton Allen Brown and Joshua Richard Brown.

Richard and Rita took me in as a teenager, when they didn't have to. I will remember that, the rest of my life. I love you guys like family.
