Marie Reeves, age 94, of Hindsville, Arkansas passed from this life on March 26, 2024 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born in Marshall, Arkansas on December 5, 1929 to Adam and Okla (Blackwood) McKinney. Marie married Chester Reeves in 1948. The couple was blessed with two sons, Larry and Ken. The family spent many years in Yakima, Washington, apple farming, before returning to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marie and Chester eventually returned to Springdale, Arkansas.
Marie was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, boating, cooking and spending time with family. She had a great sense of humor. Marie was a skilled cook and served in that role at many different restaurants until her retirement. She was the caregiver of her parents until their death. She was of the Baptist faith. Marie spent the latter years of her life working side by side with both of her sons at Phillips Trash. She would often run errands with Ken and Larry and enjoy lunch with them at various local cafés.
Marie was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband, Chester Smith Reeves who passed away in 1992; her oldest son, Larry Reeves; her youngest son, Ken Reeves and her brother, Hubert McKinney. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Reeves of Hindsville; two grandchildren, Shannon and her husband, Bryan Passmore of Springdale; Candy and her husband, Matt Still of Fayetteville and four great-grandchildren, Taylor (and Jordan) Ryals, Tanner Passmore, Cade Still and Mattie Still.
Graveside services for Marie will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2024 at Rock Creek Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside Chester. Bro. David Watts will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Matt Still, Bryan Passmore, Tanner Passmore, Cade Still, Jordan Ryals and Jeremy Sory. A special thank you to the staff at North Hills Life Care and Rehab in Fayetteville and to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale for their care and compassion in caring for Marie.
