June 11, 1944 - March 21, 2024
William Leslie ''Sonny'' Mingues was called home to be with Jesus, Thursday, March 21, 2024. June 11th, 1944, Sonny was born to Thomas William and Lucy Jean Patrick Mingues in Las Angeles, California.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Mingues; his son, "Bo'' Mingues; his parents, Thomas and Jean Mingues; his sister, Betty Jean Mingues and his brothers, Hufford Edmond ''Huey'' and James Calvin Mingues.
In 1964, he met and married the love of his life. Under a cottonwood tree on White River, he asked Bernece Brokaw to be his wife. They were blessed with five children. Sonny was a kind and loving father. He loved to hunt, fish and trap. He taught his children to love and enjoy the fruits of nature. His quick wit was a source of humor in his home and community. He never met a stranger and would strike up a genuine conversation with anyone he met, often surprising people by remembering names, dates and details from these conversations. He worked until his retirement as a heavy equipment operator for Stone County. His friendly smile will be missed by all who knew him.
He lived most of his 79 years in his family home in Dugan, Arkansas. He is loved by his family and friends. His absence leaves a hole in their lives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bernece; four daughters and their husbands, Oma and Gustavo Quiroz, Daisy and Billy Stidham, Sharon and Nam Phan, Joyce and Jesse Benbrook; two brothers, Ivan Mingues and Charles Mingues; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
