Janice M. McDaniel, age 88, of Snowball, Arkansas passed from this life on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Snowball, Arkansas on August 6th, 1935 to Fred Waco Griffin and Gertha Jones Griffin. Janice married Herbert McDaniel on December 6th, 1951. They enjoyed almost 58 years of marriage until his death in 2009.
Janice was a Christian and enjoyed attending Pleasant Grove Church with her friend Billie when her health allowed. She owned and operated McDaniel Grocery in downtown Snowball for years until her retirement. Locals enjoyed sitting around the wood stove at the store swapping tall tales. Janice loved her family and especially her grandchildren very much. She enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners for her family and spending time together. She loved to be outside and enjoyed working in her flowers. She liked sitting on her porch visiting with all who stopped by. She was very proud of her cattle and enjoyed checking on them with her boys. Although she had a love/hate relationship with Herb's dog, Toto, she continued to take care of her after his passing.
Survivors include her sons, Ronnie McDaniel and wife, Jeannie, Charles McDaniel and wife, Trish, Gary McDaniel and Rob Woods and wife, Suzanne all of Snowball; grandchildren, Sarah Rooney and husband, Steve, Kala Padilla and husband, Steve, Moose McDaniel and wife, Lindsay and Macie Woods all of Snowball; great-grandchildren, Ethan Rooney and wife, Laura of Marshall, Emma Rooney of Snowball and Timber McDaniel of Snowball; great-great grandchildren, Bo and Bristol Rooney; sister-in-law, Catherine Sanders and husband, Bob; sister-in-law, Cathy Griffin; niece, Danielle Trabala; nephew, Eddie Griffin and several extended family members & friends who will also mourn her passing.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Gertha Griffin; her husband, Herbert McDaniel; her brother, Duane ''Percy'' Griffin; a special uncle, Jessie Griffin and good friend and neighbor, Billie Passmore.
Graveside services for Janice will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 22nd, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Marsena with Bro. Shane Horton officiating. Bearers will be Steve Padilla, Steve Rooney, Rob Woods, Jeff Horton, Allan Passmore and Eddie Griffin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers who have helped take such wonderful care of Janice; to the Snowball community and to Hospice of the Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund at Simmons Bank or Snowball Civic Club at Bank of 1889.

I’m sorry for your loss. I have good memories growing up around Herbert and Janice and Ronnie and Gary. Our families would go to the Buffalo and mom and Janice would cook over an open fire and used a cast iron skillet. Gone but not forgotten.

My sister in law will be greatly missed by alot of people. years back she would get out in the yard and wrestle with Danielle and tell her not to take anything from anybody. She would tell you like it was, like it or not. Rest in peace. Hug your brother for me.
