February 21, 1932 - March 15, 2024
Joyce Angline (Jones) Still, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024 at The Springs Creekside in Yellville, Arkansas.
Joyce was born to Lonnie and Hannah (Schoonover-Mears) Jones on February 21, 1932 in the Blue John Community in Marion County, AR.
Joyce married Burl Shipman and left the area to find work and start a family in Independence, MO. She enjoyed working as a ''soda jerk'' at the soda fountain in a local drugstore.
Joyce moved back to Arkansas and married Guy Wayne Still in 1958. She continued to grow her family and they built their dream home on the family farm. They owned and operated several service stations in Yellville, worked on the family farm, raising cattle and putting in multiple gardens every year. She spent many hours in the kitchen, preparing and preserving food for her family.
When Guy was guiding on the White River, Joyce hauled the river boats. She later worked as the food service supervisor for the lunchroom at Yellville-Summit School. Joyce and Guy Wayne purchased the ''dime store'' in Yellville in 1973. She was a very talented seamstress and kept a sewing machine in the back of the store so she could sew in her spare time. She finished her working career at LaBarge in Flippin.
Joyce loved camping and spent most weekends at Peel when she was younger. She enjoyed visiting her sister, Lois, in Independence and they loved attending "Turkey Trot" together.
In her later years, Joyce married Robert Spoon. They enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson and Tunica.
Joyce is survived by five children, Randy (Terrie) Shipman of Clinton, MO, Virgil (Suzanne) Shipman, Gweldon (Carla) Shipman, Eddie Still, Alesia (Dude) Owen all of Yellville, AR. She is survived by nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands, Guy Wayne Still and Robert Spoon; her parents and her sister, Lois Mayden.
Memorial services: Monday, March 25 include Visitation at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel, 12 - 1:30 pm and 2 pm Graveside at Cowan Barnes Cemetery with Dr. Randy Shipman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, 811 Burnett Drive, Mountain Home, AR 72653.
