January 12, 1941 - March 10, 2024
Carolyn Yates, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on March 10, 2024 in Conway, Arkansas. She was born on January 12, 1941 to Elmer and Hazel Barker. To know Carolyn was to love her and she will be genuinely missed by her family and friends. Her smile was truly beautiful and her soul even more so.
Carolyn was at her happiest when surrounded by family and she took true pride in celebrating their accomplishments. She was married for 66 years to her high school sweetheart, Bill Yates and leaves behind her greatest legacy in sons, David (Shanell) and Darrell (Amy). Carolyn could often be found loving on and laughing with her granddaughters, Madison Yates and MacKenzie Yates and her great-grandson, Oliver Yates, whom she adored.
Professionally, Carolyn dedicated 16 years of her life to Hendrix College, where she enjoyed sharing her hospitality and her helpful spirit with many students.
A devout member of the University Church of Christ in Conway, Carolyn found solace and strength in her faith. She lived her life with compassion, kindness and a genuine desire to love others.
Though she is no longer physically here with us, Carolyn's memory will be cherished by her family and friends as we remember the love that she felt for each and every person that she knew. A warm hug from Carolyn was one of the sweetest gifts and one that we will all miss.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her infant sons, Jeffrey Lloyd and Kent Allen and infant daughter, Lisa Darlene.
Services to honor Carolyn's life will be held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A viewing will take place on Friday, March 15th from 6-8pm. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 16th at 1:00pm. Following the service, a private family burial will take place.
David Yates and his family lived close to us in Tucker Creek from 78-83. When David and I were dating in junior high, I went with his family to McCain Mall to see Star Wars. About 15 minutes in, Carolyn leaned over to me and asked if I'd rather go shopping. :) That was one of the many reasons I loved her. Sending love and prayers to everyone.
To the family , I am so very sorry for your loss . I always thought she was beautiful and had a smile that could light up the ski .
