David Shehadeh

of Russellville, AR

January 10, 1938 - March 2, 2024

David Shehadeh, of Russellville, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. He was born on January 10, 1938 in Gaza, Palestine to David and Mary Shehadeh.

David came to the United States and started building a life for himself in the city of Detroit, Michigan. In the late 60s, he began his work as an Engineer in Detroit's water department in the electrical department. Then in 1978, David began working as an Engineer in Arkansas for AP&L (later known as Entergy Arkansas). His career grew greatly when as a young engineer, he was able to overtake a high-level issue and resolve it for the company. In addition, he then was given training that allowed him to fully operate a nuclear power plant if necessary. In 1988, he began working for Entergy Nuclear Company at Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO) in Russellville. After many years, David earned an early retirement from ANO. David decided to use his retirement time by starting his own HVAC company. He enrolled at University Of Arkansas Community College Of Morrilton as a student to gain his HVAC license. In a short time, he truly made great impressions with professors on his amount of knowledge. David was encouraged to teach for their college instead and became a teacher there for many years.

David's greatest legacy was his devotion to the family he lived every moment for. His lifework was spent providing and he selflessly dedicated every hardworking hour to accomplish it. In his later years, he did take time for himself to travel briefly and enjoy a cruise. Mostly, he preferred to focus on the time and events for his family which took great precedence in his life. He never missed a wedding, birthday, or detail of happenings for any of his family members. He deeply loved his family and took great joy in every detail of their life. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

David is survived by his son, Tarek Shehadeh; daughters, Eman Chambers (Mark) and Ibtisam Shehadeh; grandchildren, David Shehadeh, Kasey Main and Sabrina Main; great-grandchild, Autumn Main; brother, Dr. Samir Sulieman (Sally); sister, Ibtisam Musallam; numerous nephews and nieces and extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary Shehadeh and sister, Salwa Harb (Harb).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at 10:00 AM.

A graveside service will follow going to Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock.

I met David when I started my career with Entergy in 1988, he was patient, kind and funny to work with. We always kept in touch through the years and I’m sad that he is gone, but know he is in a better place, rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy and prayers for everyone. I literally met David on Friday the night before he entered heavens gates. He entered in my facility for us to take care and love on him, and hope to give him great Quality of life til God called him home. I had did paperwork with Tarek his son and his Brother hours prior, had a great visit learned a lot about him. I left work that day and when arriving at home i remembered I didn't place his name on his door so my husband and I returned back to facility to place his name on his door, it was at that time I met David for the first time ever, spent less than 5 minutes with him, he was so sweet he reached out shook my hand very gently, I couldn't wait to get back on Monday to spend some time with him , I am usually the first person to meet and greet them when they arrive but he hadn't arrived before I left that day and when I arrived on Monday they told me he had passed. God placed me in my situation to go back and meet my sweet newly admitted resident I had heard so much about because he knew he was going to call him home On Saturday, i just know it. To his family Thank you for allowing us the small amount of time we had with him, your in our thoughts and prayers. (Lakewood health & rehab)

David, I remember the many years we worked together at AP&L and with Entergy at Nuclear One. Thank you for your kindness and leadership coaching us to be better in our engineering work. I’ll always remember you and especially how good a person you were to us all and will remember you as one of the best electrical engineers I ever worked with. DHS ^i^
