OPAL SHIRLENE STONE
Saturday, February 17, 2024
Opal Shirlene Stone, Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, was born on February
11, 1950, in Little Rock, Arkansas. A loyal and loving servant of her Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ, she passed on from this life on February 17, 2024, in Fayetteville,
Arkansas, to enjoy blessed eternity in Heaven. She was 74.
Opal Shirlene Osborn united in marriage with Randall ''Randy'' A. Stone, Jr., in
Jonesboro, Arkansas, on September 26, 1968, at the First United Pentecostal Church
where they both taught Sunday School and attended for years. They were married for
57 years.
Shirlene graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1968. She first walked down the
aisle with her future husband Randy at graduation after they were lined up together by
a homeroom teacher with romantic foresight.
On the night of their first date, Randy wrecked his red 1964½ Mustang and had to ride
his bicycle across town to make the date. He made it.
She moved to her Mountain Home from Jonesboro in 1987 to own and operate Blue
Paradise Resort on Lake Norfork with Randy for almost twenty years before retiring.
.Always a loving homemaker, Shirlene's mission in life was her family, and this was
her greatest accomplishment. She took great pleasure in caring for them, putting them
first above all else except for her Christian faith. All this exemplified her selfless love
and devotion for her family. She made home ''home.''
She enjoyed being outside in nature, favoring flowers, wildlife, and pets, including
numerous dogs and two special black cats who miss her.
Shirlene beautifully radiated positivity and happiness. Her presence reflected the light
and love of Jesus Christ. A Christian woman of strong faith, like her mother Corene
before her, she found joy in gospel music and hearing the Word of the Lord from the
Bible. She looked to and leaned on the Lord in all things, and set a good example for
her son, whom she lovingly got through college, law school, and open heart surgery,
among other things.
Shirlene was preceded in passing by her parents, Willaim H. ''Bud'' and Corene
Osborn, both formerly of Jonesboro.
Shirlene is survived by her lifetime husband Randall, of the home, and her only child,
son William Randall Matthew Stone, Esquire, known as Matt, of Mountain Home,
and sibling brother Lewis Osborn (Cheryl) of Paragould; Nephew Derek Osborn
(Brittney) of Jonesboro, best friend Sue Bullock (Roger, dearly departed) of
Jonesboro, who is Matt's Godmother and to whom Shirlene enjoyed speaking every
day, and many other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Shirlene's life will be held Tuesday, February 27,
2024, at 2 P.M. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with interment at Oaklawn
Cemetery, all in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Cousin Junior Cliff will officiate. Roller
Funeral Home (Mountain Home) is handling the arrangements. Cooksey's Flower
Shop of Jonesboro is the preferred florist.
