Herbert Walker Jones of Lambrook, Arkansas passed away at the age of 89, on Monday, February 12, 2024. He died peacefully at home. Herbert was born in Addison, Alabama on Friday, February 8, 1935.
He is survived by his two daughters, Debra Grady (Bobby) and Katrina Jones-Pigg (Troy); one grandson, Herbert Neal Grady (Lisa); two great granddaughters, Destiny Grady and Ashli Grady, who was also one of his caregivers and one brother, Benny Jones (Glenna).
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alpha Jones; grandson, Tod Grady; parents, John and Mary Jones; two brothers, Homer and Hollis and two sisters, Estelle and Dorothy.
He was a hard worker from an early age, helping his dad on the farm, to working as a young man in the orange groves in Florida. He moved to Arkansas to be a Farm Forman and later farmed on his own until his retirement. He loved his family dearly and showed them in work and deed. Even in sickness he would tell them, ''I love you.''
He was a Christian man and a member of the Elaine Church of God. He attended church until his health prevented him from doing so.
After his dementia progressed, his family was privileged to take care of him at home with the help of Elite Hospice. A special thank you to Cecelia, Joyce and Katherine, who cared so well for him and showered both him and his family with love and care. They treated us like their own family.
His favorite hobby was coon hunting, which he loved to share stories about. With some of the best coon hound dogs in the county, he won many trophies throughout his life. He also loved to share stories of his early rodeo adventures at the Indian Reservation.
A visitation for Herbert Walker Jones will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Helena, Arkansas. A funeral service will be to held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Roller-Citizens Chapel in West Helena, Arkansas. Brother Dan Wessell will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in West Helena, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Grady, Neal Grady, Troy Pigg, Destiny Grady, Ashli Grady and Shelby Snyder.

So blessed to have him as my Uncle. He was a special, kind and loving Uncle. I wished I could hug each one of you and show my love to each one. I’m truly sorry to hear about Uncle Herbert. I understand how hard it is to watch a loved one slip away. He is whole again, I pray that will bring you girls peace. I’m sending prayers for the days and weeks ahead.

I will always remember his smile and laugh when he would tell Jerry and I stories when he visited the insurance office.
