of Mountain View, AR
July 9, 1937 - February 8, 2024
Alice Jane (Long) Thomas, aged 86, was born on July 9, 1937 to Grace Magness Long and Bro. Silas Luther Long in England, Arkansas. She left this earth for higher ground in the early morning hours of February 8, 2024. She spent her childhood in Mt. View and a few other small towns in Arkansas until she made the long journey to California with her parents. While in California, Jane got reacquainted with Stone County native V.R. ''Jack'' Thomas and they were married on July 10, 1955, which was officiated by her father, Silas Long. A son and daughter completed their family. Although there were years spent in other Arkansas towns, Mt. View was always calling Jack and Jane home. Jane happily spent the last 40 plus years in Mt. View.
Jane came to know the Lord as her savior at an early age and took her relationship with Him very seriously. She was a powerful prayer warrior, always faithful in service to Him. Jane enjoyed being in the garden, pulling weeds and planting all varieties of flowers from sunrise to sunset.
She always had a needle, thread and thimble and tedious handwork by her side and has left a legacy of quilts to keep her memory alive. It wouldn't be a surprise to her family and if she hasn't fashioned a thimble out of a nugget of gold. She loved to play the piano and in her early years taught others to play as well. It was easy to coax her to play for a sing-a-long or play a favorite like Golden Tomorrow.
Those she leaves behind to lovingly remember her quick wit and funny phrases are her son, Randy Thomas and wife, Susan and her daughter, Rhonda Bennett and husband, Marty; granddaughters, Sarah Jayne Thomas and Lori-Beth Fowble and husband, Arin and their children, Addison Smith, Price Smith, Easton Fowble and Olivia Jayne Fowble; grandsons, Brent Bennett and Tyler Bennett and wife, Megan and their daughter, Sadie Grace Bennett and brother-in-law, Don Thomas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, V.R. ''Jack'' Thomas and great-granddaughter, Karley Jayne Bennett.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Zini for his compassionate care of Jane for many years, as well as the nurses from Legacy Hospice and the staff at the Blossoms.
A visitation will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 1PM until 2PM at the Roller Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with a service to follow at 2PM with Brother Luther Branscum officiating. Interment will take place at Levisy Flat Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Brent Bennett, Tyler Bennett, Arin Fowble, Greg Smith, Ritchie Thomas and Joey Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Allcorn, David Balentine and Billy Don Long.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Roller Crouch Funeral Home.
Heaven has gained an angel and here on earth those who knew Jane have lost a friend and loving family member.
I got to know Jane and family when they moved next door in West Helena. They were as close to being family as possible without blood. My son grew up with Randy and Rhonda and our family friendships continued when they moved back to Mt. View.
Jane was a lady of many talents and interests, and I can't go without saying how much I loved hearing her play the piano; she was blessed with so much talent and used that talent for God's glory!
My condolences to Randy and Rhonda and their families.
She loved our cousons night out every summer. Rest In Peace Jane. Now you will be in the most beautyful gardens you have ever seen.
I got to know Jane when Jack was a patient on our heart floor in the late 1980s. Jane was an excellent care-giver and supporter of Jack through his years as a “frequent flyer” on our unit. She was quietly tolerant of Jack’s unique and independent approach to his health care. Jane had a remarkable inner strength that came from her relationship with Jesus Christ. She and Jack left an indelible mark on my life.
So sorry for your loss. We are praying for your family.
We are so very sorry to hear of Jane's passing. She & Jack were both such sweet people & I always enjoyed talking with them & hearing Jane play the piano. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all.
We were so blessed (The Blossoms Assisted Living) to have had the pleasure of knowing Mrs Jane, and in taking part of her daily care while she was with us. She was a part of our family, and will be missed. We loved her dearly. Everyone Loved hearing her play the piano. She was friendly, spirited, funny, and cared so much about those around her. Even when she was feeling bad, she would keep going. Our thoughts and prayers are with her dear family. I am so glad that Kathy and I seen her the day before she passed. We let her know we loved her and praying for her.

To know her was to love her; you couldn’t help it! Same with Mr. Jack. We will forever be grateful to them for their hospitality and friendship these past 18 years. We could write a book from their wisdom! So many memories we will cherish of our times together at their cabin on the creek. It’s a blessing to know she is with her Savior and reunited with Mr. Jack, suffering no more. Praise the Lord!

A few fond memories of my Aunt Jane. When I was a boy my uncle Jack and aunt Jane lived just down the street from us in West Helena AR. I spent lots of time at their house over the years and aunt Jane was always so kind and loving to me. Lots of fun, and great food at aunt Jane’s. I remember listening to her Dad Silas one night at a family gathering talk about the book of Revelations and Gods word that sticks out to me this day. I remember giving Jane a ride to West Helena from Batesville one winter when I was going to AC (Lyon) college. With Janes calming presence and helping me we made it through a winter storm and terrible road conditions to West Helena. She was my boss during a few summers when she hired me to work at Y-Camp truck stop just outside West Helena . She trained me and never got on to me for anything, and didn’t take it out of my pay when occasionally I would forget to charge someone for oil etc. One of the things I loved most about Jane was listening to her play the piano at church . To this day I have not heard anyone play the piano better than Jane. She’s in Heaven now rejoicing with the Lord . I will miss you Aunt Jane
Love Always

I learned so much from Jane! She was my first employer as I cleaned her houses. She was kind and so sweet. She always had a smile even in her pain. So many memories come to mind! I will miss her but so glad she is free from pain! Praying for your family!
Words are hard to express with the loss of Miss Jane. She was one of a kind. Feisty and spirited come to mind! Extremely God fearing is certainly at the forefront of my thoughts of Jane. I had the pleasure of knowing Jane for many years. I will miss her quick wit and pretty eyes with that twinkling smile So thankful her body is whole once again and that she is reunited with Mr Jack.
Sorry to hear this. Ms. Jane was such a special lady.
Prayers for your family.
God Bless

Praying for Mr.Jack and the family. Mrs.Jane was one of the nicest neighbors and friends I've ever had the pleasure of growing up by and enjoying getting to know. I loved listening to her "tickle those ivory's". She was one of the best piano players I've ever heard. ??. When my daddy, Horace Avey passed away, Mr. Jack and Mrs. Jane was so good to me, and I send my heartfelt prayers to you Mr. Jack. If you need anything please get ahold of me. I'll be there.
So sorry to hear this. See was a very sweet lady. We always enjoyed visiting with her. Praying for the family
