of Searcy, AR
February 13, 1931 - February 3, 2024
David L. Quattlebaum, 92, of Searcy went to meet his Savior on February 3, 2024 at Unity Health Hospital with family at his side. He was born February 13, 1931 in Bee Branch, Arkansas to Gilbert and Nomia Quattlebaum. He was one of six children and he attended Judsonia United Methodist Church.
On October 2, 1954, David married the love of his life, Audrey Elaine Manor of Judsonia and they were blessed with two sons, David W. Quattlebaum and Terry L. Quattlebaum both of Searcy. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine; his siblings; his son, David; his second love, Jean Muse of Heber Springs, AR and numerous other family members and friends.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Terry (Sherry) Quattlebaum of Searcy; grandchildren, Aaron (Kaitlin) Quattlebaum of Nashville, TN, Alex Quattlebaum of Nashville, TN, Ashley (Cody) Larque of Griffithville, AR, Brittany (Andrew) Holt of McRae, AR; six great-grandchildren, Luke and Carter Larque, Marley Holt, Dally and Ada Holt, Rooster Holt; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members and many friends.
David worked 24 years at Matthews International after serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a proud veteran, farmer, husband, father and papaw. He worked hard to provide the necessities for his family because he loved them dearly. In his early years during his free time, you would find him working on all sorts of family vehicles. He loved to garden, loved working with his livestock and row crops. David enjoyed being involved in the local FFA Chapter of Judsonia.
In his later years he loved time with his family, especially his grandchildren, going out to eat, taking drives and spending time with his best friend, Bill Cook of Heber Springs, AR. He loved listening to gospel music on his radio every Sunday morning.
We would like to thank Kimberly Spence with White River Area on Aging for her dedication and care over the past 7 years. She and David (also known as Pop) developed a great friendship and bond. He enjoyed their days talking and laughing, planning their grocery lists, picking up lunch and picking their weekly lottery numbers. We would also like to thank the 3rd floor nurses and doctors at Unity Health for their compassion and care he received in his last days.
Pallbearers will be Jason Harwell, Tony Stark, Andrew Holt, Aaron Quattlebaum, Roy Dale Tripp and Cody Larque.
