Kathryn V. Sharp Hightower, age 81, of Howard, Colorado, formerly of Leslie, Arkansas, departed this life to be with God and her beloved husband on Thursday, January 25th, 2024 at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, Colorado. She was born in Leslie, Arkansas on February 14th, 1942 to Robert Manley Sharp and Wilma Eunice Tumbleson Sharp. Kathryn married ''Duke'' Julius Hightower, the love of her life in 1958. They had 57 wonderful years together.
Kathryn loved to travel. She very much enjoyed beaches, but her fondest adventures were hiking and prospecting the mountains of Colorado with family and friends. Kathryn got great pleasure attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events through the years. She was always their biggest and most vocal fan! Kathryn was a voracious reader, a lifetime learner always thirsting for knowledge, which led her down many different paths. Her proudest accomplishment was becoming a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Salida Church of Christ. Kathryn will be remembered for her kind and giving soul, always doing what she could to help others. It didn't matter if they were family or a complete stranger; she truly wanted the best for everyone.
Survivors include her children, John Hightower (Melissa), Jesse Hightower (Claudia) and Yvette Garcia (Alfonso ''Ponch''); grandchildren, ''Johnny'' John Hightower Jr. (Jessica), Joshua Hightower (Gosia), Jacob Hightower (Jordan), Joseph Noah Hightower (Savanna), Jessica Hightower, Justin Hightower, Jenna Albright (Carson), Andres Conde, Mynor Rodriguez, Katerina Stastny (TJ) and Easton Garcia; great-grandchildren, Victoria Hightower, ''Johann'' John Hightower III, Dylan Hightower, Evan Hightower, Lucan Hightower, Gareth Hightower, Wyatt Duke Hightower, Eleanor Hightower, Jane Hightower and Baby Girl Stastny on the way; siblings, Fran Bunch (Bill), George Sharp, Delbert Sharp (Chris) and Darrell Sharp and many extended family members who will also mourn her passing.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eunice Sharp; her beloved husband, Duke, who passed away in 2015 and sisters, Lorene Hightower, Maudean Reid, Jean Bartold, Demoid Davidson and Linda Watts.
Funeral services for Kathryn will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery on Trace Ridge Road near Leslie, where Kathryn will be laid to rest beside her husband, Duke.
