Emmett Gadberry, Jr., 85, passed away on January 12th, 2024 at his home in Marion, Arkansas.
A graduate of Hughes High School, Emmett attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College and Arkansas State University, after which he pursued a career in agriculture, which spanned six decades. He served as a deacon a First Baptist Church, Hughes, Arkansas prior to moving to Marion where he attended First Baptist Church of Marion.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille Gibbons Gadberry; their three children, Marianne Cupples (Bobby) of Proctor, Arkansas; Melanie Meurrier (Turner) of Marion, Arkansas; Emmett III (Cynthia) also of Marion, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Ashli Byas (Chance) of Southaven, Mississippi; Mallory Grove (John) of Arlington, Virginia; Carolyn Barnes (Brandon) of Marion, Arkansas; Emma Stewart (Hunter) of Crawfordsville, Arkansas; four great grandchildren, Jack Grove, Adelyn Kate Byas, Hallie Whit Stewart and Warmack Barnes; a brother, Billy Gadberry of Marion, Arkansas and a sister, Joyce Wooten (Bobby) of Springdale, Arkansas.
Preceding him were his parents, Emmett Sr and Pearl Woods Gadberry; a brother, Gene Gadberry and two sisters, Betty Harrelson and Jean Cooley Butler.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 18th at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Memphis, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 1PM - 3PM with service to follow.

I just saw where Emmet has finished his course here on earth. We go way back to the early 80’s when I first came to Lakeshore. He was such a precious soul. Through all kinds of difficulties, he always smiled. It was a joy serving as pastor to his sweet mama and Aunt Lula. ???????? (Bro Jerry)

So sorry to learn of Emmett passing. We have lost a wonderful friend as well as a fine example of how to treat our fellow man in a very true and loving way. May Ms/ Lucille and all of the family find peace in the days to come. I have lost a friend, mentor and a great example in my life; however I was blessed and honored to have had Emmett and his family in my life.

Mr. Emmett was a wonderful man and I loved him dearly. He always showed me kindness and love, especially during the hard times when I was unable to love myself. He graduated high school with my daddy and we talked of him often. Prayers for Mrs. Lucille and the rest of his family. They love just as strongly as he has modeled all his life.
What a great man he was
Mr. Emmet was a steadfast friend to us in our years of service at FBC Hornersville. He & Mrs. Lucille were like 2nd parents to us during seminary days. We are very grateful for his influence & wisdom & laughter in our lives. The memories come flooding in. Our hearts & prayers are with you.

The family is in our prayers at this time of sorrow. We have many great memories with the Gadberry family. Emmett was a good friend and classmate of Cliff. He is not suffering and is at peace. A loss for us, but a better life for him.
I’m so sorry for your loss. We were neighbors forever. There hasn’t been a day went by that I haven’t thought of Mr Emmitt and Mrs Lucile. Sense they moved away. My prayers are with this great family.

I extend my deepest condolences to Mrs. Gadberry and family in the loss of a man I admired and respected. Mr. Gadberry was on the school board when I served as Hughes High School principal in the early 1980’s. As we say in the south, “all good folks.” I pray God comforts and blesses you all.
I am sorry to learn of Emmett’s passing. I knew him from our high school days in Hughes. He and my mother and father, Dock and Kathleen Warren were close friends for many years. He spoke at my father’s funeral. He will be missed by all that knew him. Bill Warren

I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. He was my landlord in Hughes,Arkansas when I started my teaching journey. His wife Mrs.Lucille was our Sunday School teacher when Roger and I started our journey as husband and wife. We were delighted when they came to Marion and we got to worship with them again at First Marion. I’ll be praying for all of you as you deal with this tremendous loss.??????
