of Quitman, AR
September 17, 1939 - January 2, 2024
We are sad to announce the passing of Mrs. Doris Ann Clayton Needham, 84, of Quitman, Arkansas. The Lord took her home Tuesday, January 2, 2024
Doris was born during the depression, September 17, 1939 to Oliver and Ruth Clayton in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
She married the love of her life, Thomas (Tommy) Needham of Earle, Arkansas in 1960. They settled down in Earle and started a family where they were blessed with 3 children, Joseph (Joe) Needham, Lori Needham Roeder and Timothy (Timmy) Needham.
Doris worked for many years, until she retired from the cafeteria in the Earle school district. She then moved to Utah for a while but later moved back home to Arkansas to be closer to her children.
Doris had a love for people and never met a stranger, welcoming everyone she made contact with. Her smile was contagious; her laugh unforgettable, but most of all her love for God was undeniable. Described as very humble, selfless and a compassionate soul, she also had love and a soft spot for both children and animals.
She enjoyed sitting on her porch watching the birds. She loved to tell stories about her life and she always had a great one to tell. She liked westerns and John Wayne and always looked forward to her coffee and ''snackie'' snacks.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas (Tommy) Needham; 1 brother, Floyd Clayton; 3 sisters, Bessie Clayton McGee, Betty Ruth Matthews and Louise Clayton Kerr and 1 granddaughter, Kenna Beth Needham.
In addition to her 3 children, she is survived by one sister, Judy Clayton Raymond of Mountain Home, Arkansas; 2 grandsons, Seth Needham and Wesley Needham; two step granddaughters, Tiffiany Green and Dixie Barnes; four step grandsons, Brandon Anderson, Michael Jordan, Jr., Brent Jordan and Gavin Floyd; two great grandsons, Isaiah Needham and Ilajah Needham; two great granddaughters, Kenly Needham and Brena Needham and 9 step great grandchildren and one step great angel baby.
Doris loved her family more than words can ever describe and she loved to pass on her wisdom about life. Loved by so many she will be greatly missed.
A visitation will take place on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 6 PM 8 PM at Earle First Assembly of God, Earle, Arkansas. The funeral service for Mrs. Needham will be held on January 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM also at Earle First Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park following the funeral.
