Ms. Shirley walked my kids safely across the street every morning for many years. My children thought of her as another grandmother. Such a sweet and kind soul.
I saw her helping children cross the street going to or coming away from school. She would always talk to them and have a smile for each one. She was a very sweet lady. Prayers for the family.
I will deeply miss Mrs. Shirley! Always looked forward to her hugs and her enthusiasm over the babies! Rest easy in paradise my friend!!
We are sad to learn of Shirley's passing. She and Cleveland were some of our longest & best friends since 1961. Will miss her but she is in a better place with no more pain or sorrow. Sad for her family and will pray for you. Love Don & Elah Campbell

My heart is with you all! Love you and thinking of you! Her smile will be missed. Her dedication to serve and protect others shined throughout her life!
We Gathing kids knew her voice when it called.
So sorry my condolences are with her family she is a wonderful woman walked my kids everyday across the street for over many years she was a kind and loving woman rip Ms Shirley
Her life’s purpose was to help others and it was an honor and pleasure to call her my friend. Making sure children crossed the streets safely to get to school and back home in the afternoons was her calling for 40 years. She was truly a “servant” and didn’t take her responsibility lightly.
She was loved by many and will be missed by many more. May God bless her family and give them comfort and peace during this sad time.
So Sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. Will miss her terribly. We had many good times at Immanuel Baptist and Grace Baptist. Praying for the family.
My heart truly breaks for you all. Ms Gattis was my second Momma while growing up on Gathings. So many precious memories. Prayers for comfort and strength to you all. Love y’all.
