Charles Thomas ''Tommy'' Herndon, 78, of Jonesboro passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born on March 11, 1945 in Cairo, IL to Horace and Juanita (Mohundro) Herndon. Tommy served in the United States National Guard and worked at General Electric for 32 years before retiring. He was a deacon and a minister at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a musician, a comedian and a wood worker.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Bill Herndon and a sister, Wilma Gibson.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth Ann (Gallion) Herndon; a son, Robert Herndon (Christie); a daughter, Becky Wade (Mark); grandchildren, Holly Wade of Florida, Tanner Wade (Amber) of Arkansas, Andrew Herndon (Kodi) of Arkansas and Maddie Herndon of Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Addison Parnell of Arkansas and Aiden Herndon of Arkansas; a brother, Michael Herndon (Scotty) of Illinois; a sister, Susie Cox (Richard) of Oklahoma; a special brother in law, Frank Gibson; a special sister in law, Donna Gallion and many other friends, family and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro, AR, with Wynndel King and Bill Legere officiating. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ryan Harris, David Hudson, Daniel Melton, Mark Cambell, Eric Adams and Lonnie King Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the congregation of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Austin White, Tanner Wade and Andrew Herndon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

What a legacy this sweet loving man left for his family! He was loved by so many! If you knew Tom Herndon, you know where he's forever residing! Much love to his family during this time of saying see you later! Love you sweet cousin!
There will never be better neighbors or better friends than Tommy and Ruth Herndon.
God has blessed me richly through them and I am grateful for them. I'm sure Tommy's pickin' & grinnin' up in Heaven like he never could have imagined possible. I love you all.

Ruth Ann, so very sorry for your great loss. I remember meeting both of yall at Church with my mother in law and father in law, Louise and Henry Simmons. And praying you have many wonderful, cherished memories of Tommy to help sustain you. May God forever bless you and yours.
My heart is full of fond memories of Mr. Tommy and you all. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the abundant joy he gave, and his loved ones he cherished. What a GREAT loss. Mr Tommy was so loved and appreciated for all his talents and goodness. He was an encourager and always full of joy- He made a Huge difference in my life and everyones.
