Franklin R Ross, Jr., 73, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2023. He was born on August 5, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Franklin and Mayme Ross. He graduated from Little Rock Central High School and went on to Arkansas State University, where he graduated with a bachelor and master's degree in Music Education. He had a passion for music, from teaching, to composing, to directing, he loved every aspect of it. He directed bands at schools in Gosnell, Marked Tree, Mountain Grove (MO) and Pocahontas. He also served as handbell director at Asbury United Methodist Church and Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin R Ross, Sr. and Mayme McCormack Ross. He is survived by his two daughters, Laura (Matthew) Boyd and Jennifer Ross and one grandson, Cooper Boyd.
His life will be celebrated on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church at 10:00am with a visitation at the church at 9:00am. Memorials can be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Music Ministry or the CARTI Cancer Center Foundation.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Ryan Hall, Dr. Amr Ismail and Dr. Caleb Dickson and their staff for their excellent care.
I am so sorry about your Dad. He played with our handbell choir & sometimes directed us at Immanuel Baptist Church. He was so talented. He had such a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. We all loved him.
Laura i wanted to express my condolences for you and your family. May you find comfort and peace during this difficult time. The next days,weeks,months ,years will not be easy but know your dad is with our Heavenly father happy and well. Love you friend !
Jennifer and Laura, I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed the time spent with your dad playing handbells. You already know that your dad was so proud of his girls. I can only imagine how proud he is of his grandson! Praying for you during this very difficult time.
Mr. Ross was my high school band director at Marked Tree. He was a great instructor and mentor of music.
Mr. Ross was my band director in Marked Tree Arkansas. He was an excellent teacher & I'm blessed to have known him. My sincerest condolences to the family.
