Vera Glendene Gramling of Brookland, AR passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 94 years. She was born December 5, 1929 to Earnest and Florence (Matthews) Andrews in Greene County, AR. She was a member of the Bethel Church of Christ in Paragould, AR. She worked for ASU in the food services department until retirement. Glendene was a homebody and loved cooking and cleaning, mowing the front yard with a push mower and most of all, being with her family that she cherished deeply.
Glendene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Charles Gramling; three brothers, Joe, Bill and Dossie Andrews and a sister, Ruth Hooks.
She is survived by four children, Sharon Cook of Paragould, Deanie (Glen) Talley of Jonesboro, Wayne (Laura) Gramling of Jonesboro and Eddie Gramling of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Sean and Shannon Haff, Nick Haff, Jamie and Hunter Smith, Scott and Teresa Goad, Blake and Angela Goad, Tiffany and Phillip Bartch, Amy and Jason Moore and Jonathan and Renee Gramling; several great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lerlene Stracener and Dorothy Jackson.
Chapel services will be 11 am Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation will precede the service from 10 am to 11 am.
Nick Haff, Blake Goad, Scott Goad, Jonathan Gramling, Jarrett Brown and Jax Goad will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests lasting memorials be made in Glendene's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
