Larry Joe Deaton, 81, of Marked Tree, AR passed away December 16, 2023. He was born February 19, 1942 in Manila, AR to the late Joe and Della Deaton. He was a pastor for nearly 40 years. Most of his years were spent at Red Oak Baptist Church, where he served as the pastor for around 30 years. He also served as the pastor of Browns Chapel Baptist Church for around 10 years. Going into the family business of body work, he worked for Osceola's Ford dealership managing their body shop for many years before opening up a body shop of his own. He enjoyed riding horses, playing the piano and spending time with his family and church family. Larry is survived by his son, Larry Deaton (Felicia); daughter, Laura Rooks (Greg) and grandchildren, Mallorie Butler (Kyle) and Taylor Deaton. Larry is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janie Deaton; brothers, William Carey Deaton and Danny Kay Deaton and sister, Judith Ann Warren.

He was a wonderful kind man. I am so very honored to have been able to care for him during his last days. I will always think of him when putting my rooster in his place.
Absolutely one of the finest examples of a man of God I have ever met. I’m sure he and Janie are holding hands and walking the streets of gold, together again at last!
I’m sorry to learn of Brother Larry’s passing. He was a fine man and a special friend to my sister Sharon and her husband W.D. Gann.
