James Allen Cody, Sr., 82, of Jasper, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. He was born on November 12, 1941 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Joseph Edgar and Leona Rose Barnett Cody. On March 3, 1962 in Plant City, Florida, James married the love of his life Shirley Oma Terry, and they were married for 47 years until her passing in 2009.

James was an outdoorsman who loved being outdoors, especially in the woods. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving friends and family.

James is survived by three sons, James Allen Cody, Jr. of Florida, Lonnie Lee Cody and wife Cheryl of Tennessee, and Cletus Gene Cody of Arkansas; four daughters, Gloria Jean Rogers of Arkansas, Donna Sue Millican and husband Shane of Arkansas, Peggy Oma Edwards of Tennessee, and Vickie Lynn Higginbotham and husband Chris of Arkansas; one sister, Sandra Batchlor and husband Paul of Florida; one brother, Jackie Cody and wife Robin of Tennessee, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many extended family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edgar and Leona Rose Barnett Cody; his wife, Shirley Oma Terry Cody; daughter, Vera Ann Cody; one grandson, Jackie Nash, Jr., one great-grandson, Austin McGuire, and multiple brothers and sisters.

Visitation is Monday, December 18, 2023 from 6:00-7:00PM at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services are Tuesday, December 19, 2023, 2:00PM at Round Mountain Community Church in Big Flat, Arkansas with Brother Rick Freeman officiating and his granddaughter, Shirley Wallis singing a song. Interment will follow the service at Freeman Cemetery.
