Ricky Eugene Mckay, 70 years of age, from West Memphis, AR passed away at his home on November 24, 2023.
Ricky was born in West Memphis in 1953 to Joe Egar Mckay and Anna May Cissel Mckay. He graduated from West Memphis in the class of 1971. He married the love of his life, Deborah Mckay, in June of 1971. They were happily married for 52 years. He was employed by the West Memphis Police Department for for 39.5 years before retiring in 2019. He also was employed by Southland Greyhound Park for 20 of those years.
Ricky was preceded in death by his lovely daughter, Meredith Mckay Dunavant of West Memphis, AR; his sisters, Cleo Hatchett of West Memphis, AR and Wilma "Jeannie" Egar Proctor of Nashville, TN; his brother, Jimmy Mckay of Portageville, MO and his parents, Joe and Anna Mckay of West Memphis, AR.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Deborah Mckay of West Memphis, AR; his son, John Mckay and wife, of Marion, AR; his brother, Teddy Joe Mckay of Memphis, TN; his grandchildren, Dylan Dunavant, Alexis Mckay, Bradley Sexton, Lauren Mckay, Alex Sexton and wife, and Chris Sexton and wife. Ricky also leaves behind two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ricky was such a nice guy. I knew him from school. I'm so sorry for your loss.....

We were all truly blessed to have meet and spent time with Mr. Rickey. He always had time for myself and many other kids while we were growing up and needed direction or just needed to have a good day.

Words can not describe how incredibly sorry I am for the loss of Uncle Ricky. My heart goes out to Aunt Debbie and John. Sending lots of prayers to both of you and all the family and friends. The world will not be the same. Heaven has gained two of the most amazing people with Uncle Ricky and Mer Mer. I'm am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart and am praying for everyone. May Uncle Ricky continue to live on in spirit through the amazing memories we have of him.
Ricky was a good man with a great sense of humor. My condolences to his family. He leaves some shoes that will be hard to fill.

Although Jason knew him for many years, I was lucky enough to spend a little time with you all several months back when y’all camped out and went fishing in Arkabutla.
