Bernie G. Sanders, 74, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born on November 2, 1948 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Joyce and Lloyd Sanders.
In his life, Bernie enjoyed attending church services, teaching Sunday School and dedicating himself to service within his family and community. Bernie was also a Vietnam Veteran who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and after his time, gave everything he had to helping others overcome their personal struggles. He was known as ?Satchmo? in what he loved to talk about as the Levy Crew. He was a coach, mentor and a father figure to many. In his later life, he gave everything he could to his work and his family. Leaving behind a legacy, that is a true testament to the love of God, his neighbor and his family.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ruth E. Sanders; sons, Chris Sanders (Tina) and Taylor Glover; daughter, Mina Jo Atwood; sister, Bonnie Cohen (Ron); 2 nieces; 5 grandchildren; extended family, friends and the Levy Crew.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Lloyd Sanders.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 26th at 10:30 AM at Roller-Owens in North Little Rock. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at 9:30 AM.
A graveside service will follow in procession to Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock at 12:00 PM.

Bernie was my friend and worked with him. He loved the Lord and his family and friends. He had such a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. I honor him as a Man who served in Vietnam and was in the US Marine Corps. We will miss you my good friend.

Bernie was a soft spoken man who cared about God, family, and his work above all else. He was an honor to know and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
I didn't know that Carol text me about Bernie was passed away I was shocking I am sorry Bernie family just praying he is good guy interpreter for me when I was working with him laundry at conway human development center and he always talking joking good man and I will miss him so much ??
Bernie was a kind person. I worked with him a few years.
