Jeanette Eloise Utley, age 78, of Everton, passed away with her family by her side on September 23, 2023, in Branson, Missouri. She was born January 14, 1945, in Spencer, Iowa to Fred and Genevieve Lambertus Kellum.

Jeanette was a member of Oak Lane Free Will Baptist Church, her faith in the Lord was her guiding light in her life. She married Gale Utley in Davis Junction, IL, Aug 22, 1983, and they later moved to Western Grove from Illinois after Gale retired from Sundstrand Aviation. Jeanette was a long-time tax preparer for HR Block. Prior to that, she was a waitress at Stub's House of Plenty in Spencer, IA, and The Potato Shak in Machesney Park, IL. She enjoyed quilting, making quilts for every family member, and giving many away to those in need. She also enjoyed gardening flowers and her veggies and was passionate about her love of gospel music. Jeanette was a member of the Chorus in her High School days helped with the Church Choir and also sang at church with her beloved sisters. Jeanette loved hosting family gatherings at her home and having her family around her table. She was known to have a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone in need.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Gale; daughters, Kimberly Kercheval-Lorenz (Genea), and Janis Taylor (John Demmer); step-daughters, Cheri Quick (David) and Connie Wright (Brad); step-son, Craig Utley (Debbie); her sister, Lois Perkins (Robert); grandchildren, Jeffrey Gamble, Brian Quick (Janelle), Daniel Quick (Karen), Amy Davis (Derrick), Matt Wright (Sarah), Michelle Witmer (Brad), Megan Wright, Anthony Utley (Heather), Andrew Utley (Amber), Candace McClure and Megan Stoltz; 22 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and her beloved critters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Virginia and Joyce; her brother, Dale and her stepson, Rich Utley.


Visitation was on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Oak Lane Free Will Baptist in Harrison. The memorial service was on Saturday at the church.

The interment was at Western Grove Cemetery.

Aunt Jeanette was a unique and beautiful woman. She was very caring and almost always smiling. Her voice, when she sang with her sisters, was one I’ll never forget. They were beautiful together, and I miss them all. Rest in peace, dearest Aunt Jeanette.

Nettie was a beautiful and loving soul! Will miss her messages and smiling face and contagious laugh. I know she’s in heaven with Joyce and Virginia drinking coffee and eating dessert.. praying for all your family. May the Lord wrap his arms around you and comfort you through your time of sadness
