William "Sonny" Goodson, 85, of Marianna, Arkansas passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born Monday, February 7, 1938 to Lewis and Etta Ray Goodson in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Joyce Goodson of the home; two sons, Jimmy Goodson (Susan) of Moro, Arkansas, James Martin (Linda) of Red Bay, Alabama; one daughter, Debby Bolden of Marianna, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Emily Liles (Paul) of Oxford, Mississippi, Tracy Holcombe of Marianna, Arkansas, Eric Carroll (Erica) of West Helena, Arkansas and Sonia Dowdy (John) of Red Bay, Alabama; six great-grandchildren, Payton Waters of Benton, Arkansas, Conner Dowdy, Carter Dowdy both of Red Bay, Alabama, Gavin Deckelman, Trusten Carroll and Harlyn Carroll all of West Helena, Arkansas and one great-great-grandchild, Asher Waters of Benton, Arkansas and one sister, Wanda Blevins of Haskell, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Florence McCallister.
Mr. Sonny enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Pallbearers will be Billy Westmoreland, Jamie Westmoreland, Alan Westmoreland, Monty Carter, Rusty Chism and Doug Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Smith, Charlie Harris and Henry Edgin.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena, Arkansas.
