Gerald "Flash" Brooks, 84, of Scranton, Arkansas passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home.
He was born on March 12, 1939 in Ratcliff, Arkansas to his parents, Jasper Jackson Brooks and Emma Agnes (Tygart) Brooks. Gerald or "Flash", worked for Riverside Furniture in Ft. Smith for thirty-four years. After Riverside Furniture closed he went to work at Tyson River Valley in Scranton for an additional thirty-four years before he retired. Gerald was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ft. Smith and he enjoyed sitting on his porch talking to people as the traffic was driving by. In his spare time Gerald enjoyed fishing, studying genealogy, playing his guitar and singing gospel songs.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents mentioned above; his wife of forty-seven years, Shirley (Hice) Brooks; one brother, Guy Brooks; two sisters, Jackie Lewis and Karen Garren; a daughter, Melissa Eads; a step-son William Schiffman and a grandson, Hunter White.
He is survived by his son, Bobby Wayne Brooks of McRae, Arkansas; a daughter, Emma Susan Sisson of Scranton, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Bobbie White and husband, Terry of Searcy, Arkansas, Jeremy Brooks of Beebe, Arkansas, Aubree Sisson & Baily Atchison of Paris, Arkansas, Duncan Sisson of Scranton, Arkansas, Brianna Moore and husband, Ethan of Dover, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren, Axis Reichert, Emmett Moore, Elliott Moore and Chad White; three step-children he loved as his own; several step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM. Monday, September 18, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris with burial at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville.
Pallbearers will be Duncan Sisson, Jeremy Brooks, Baily Atchison, Neal Wade, Casey Piper and Robert Hice.
Funeral arrangements and services are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
