Roger Boskus

of Mountain Home, AR

July 27, 1947 - September 11, 2023

On Monday, September 11th, Roger Boskus, 76, began his eternal journey with our Heavenly Father.

Roger was born July 27th, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Hellen Boskus. After graduating from Lindblom High School, Roger married his soulmate, Joanne Boskus. Together, they had three sons: Roger, Joseph and Thomas. Roger worked in the skilled trades as a tool and die maker in the Chicagoland area. His passions included fishing, watersports and camping with his wife and three sons.

Roger and Joanne eventually chased their dreams of owning a business by moving to Mountain Home, Arkansas and purchasing Fish and Fiddle Resort in July of 1990. Together, Roger and Joanne ran their hospitality business for over three decades. Roger was most notably a dedicated husband, father to his three sons and papa to his twelve grandchildren. Roger taught his sons the importance of an entrepreneurial spirit, a ferocious work ethic and the importance of gathering with and providing for the family. Enjoying the outdoors via striper fishing, boating, waterskiing and gathering on Sand Island with family and friends were among Roger's favorite pastimes.

In addition to being a beloved husband, father and papa, Roger was a loyal friend, brother, son and uncle. He will be missed and remembered always. ''And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.'' (Revelation 21:4)

Roger is survived by sons, Roger (Karen) of Fayetteville, Joseph (Christy) of Rogers and Thomas (Camie) of Mountain Home, along with twelve grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. September 22nd, immediately before a Requiem Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m.

For years our family and friends vacationed on Lake Norfork and stayed at Fish and Fiddle Resort, Roger and Joanne were the nicest hosts anyone could wish for. Our home now is on the lake and our memories will always be the first week of August - the best part of the summer spent at Fish and Fiddle. Condolences to their children from the Jestadt family.

I was introduced to the Boskus family when I married David Schmitt who was Roger's cousin. We spent the next 35 years going on vacations, camping, boating, bike riding and when Roger's and Joanne bought Fish and Fiddle Memorial Day was spent floating in Lake Norfolk. I was also blessed to watch their 3 sons grow into the fantastic men they are today and their families. Such wonderful memories I will carry in my heart forever. God bless you Roger. You are now with Joanne and Dave. Love you all.

My niece Joanne met this guy named Roger well over 50 years ago. They were an amazing couple for all those years. They raised 3 boys who all went on to have successful careers and wonderful families. I am so saddened by Roger’s passing but find happiness that he is with the love of his live Joanne!

I met Roger and Joanne over 20 years ago at their resort and always looked forward to seeing them every spring. Two of the best people I've ever met.
