Wanda was loved by all who knew her and had a knack for storytelling, especially I about the "olden days,'' as her daughter fondly referred to them. At the age of 18, she embarked on a journey from Dato, Arkansas, to St. Louis, Missouri, where she secured a job and an apartment on the very day of her arrival. Throughout her life, Wanda remained strong and independent, navigating her way through challenges with resilience.

She was also a beloved sister to Peggy Herren and special Aunt to Cindy Bryant. Heather Patterson, a special family friend and caregiver, held a special place in Wanda's heart.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Geoffrey Herren, her mother, Ruth Herren, her husband Robert L Gilmore, Jr. who was a retired Master Sargeant from the United States Air Force, her brothers Bill Herren and Bob Herren, her sisters Patsy Bryant and Linda Oliver, and her brother Terry Martin.
During World War II, Wanda worked at an ammunition factory. She also had a career as a cosmetologist and waitress, where she touched the lives of many with her skills and warm personality.
Wanda worshipped at a Baptist church, finding solace and community in her faith.
