Marva Jean Lawrence, 83, reunited with her heavenly father on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Izard County Medical Center in Calico Rock, Arkansas. Jean peacefully finished her battle with life in the presence of her best friend, confidant and daughter, Sherry.
Jean was born on August 21, 1940 in her childhood home at Roasting Ear Creek to her parents, Floyd and Monnie (Lawrence) Brewer. Jean attended and graduated school from Timbo High School in 1959. After meeting her husband, Eugene in 1958, Jean and Eugene were married on May 9, 1959. They spent 61 years celebrating their love for one another and the blessings God had granted them. For fifteen years, Jean worked as a CNA for the Mountain View Nursing Home. She cherished her time there and the memories she created with her patients. Jean worked at Timbo School for ten years as a school janitor. She and Eugene were blessed to love their only daughter, Sherry, for the rest of their lives. Years later, Jean became known as Granny Jean and spent the rest of her life making new memories with two of her favorite people: Brady and Luke.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lawrence; parents, Floyd and Monnie Brewer; sisters, Lois (Raymond) Martin, Ola (Olis) Lawrence, Olivia (Edward) Horton, Iva (Alfred) Balentine, Odene Horton and four infant siblings that passed during childhood.
Jean is survived by her only child, Sherry (Keith) Johnson of Onia; two grandsons, Brady (Jennifer) Johnson of Timbo; grandson, Luke (Emily) Johnson of Pleasant Grove; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Jack and Oakley Jean Johnson; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
The visitation for Jean Lawrence will be held at 10:00 am at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Onia, Arkansas. The service will directly follow at 11:00 am with Ricky Balentine and Michael Martin officiating. Jean will be laid to rest at Pordue Cemetery in Onia, Arkansas.

So very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Sherry and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. There’s nothing that one can say to ease the loss of a mother. Although you cannot see her, she will always be with you in your heart. I send my deepest sympathy to you and your family and may you always be comforted by the memories of your mother.
"When the Lord wanted to send a gift to Earth unlike any other, He opened the Gates of Heaven and sent to Earth a mother."
Sherry and family, you have my deepest condolences. I have been privileged to know her and family for many years. Nicer, friendlier, more Christian folks never was. Rest assured she is in Paradise and happy.
