Lewis Dale Stearns, 84, of Walnut Ridge, AR passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. Lew was born July 16, 1939 in Egypt, AR to Darwin and Mary (Burns) Stearns. He worked for KAIT as an electrical engineer for over 23 years. He was of the Baptist faith and loved gardening and working. Lew retired with 20 plus years as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
Lew was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emmett Stearns, Roger Stearns, Jimmy Stearns and Donnie Henson and two sisters, Lela Stearns and Fern Stearns.
Those left behind to cherish the wonderful memories of Lew include his loving wife of 60 years, Gayle (Armour) Stearns; two sons, Jim (Tracy) Stearns and Robert (Donnie) Stearns; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a brother, Jerry Henson.
Chapel services will be 2 pm Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Shannon Tribble officiating. Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1 pm.
Teddy Dulaney, Chris Haas, Dennis Stearns, Terrence Miller, Luke Miller and Drake Stearns will serve as pallbearers.
Lasting memorials in Lew's honor can be made to either the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, AR 72401 or to St. Bernard's Villa, 2217 West Parker Road, Jonesboro, AR 72404.
