Jerry L. Barnes, 70, of Batesville passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023.
He was born Thursday, October 16, 1952 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to Joe and Mary (Hines) Barnes.
Jerry was an evangelist who traveled near and far. He attended Cave Creek Church of God and loved his family and grandkids. Jerry was an ordinary man who loved to hunt, camp, go on cruises and was a jokester who enjoyed laughing. He administered a loving hand of correction to his children and was a very hardworking and sacrificial man. Before he was disabled, he worked at Townsend.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married February 27, 1981, Julie Carnett Barnes of the home; two sons, Shawn Barnes (Laurie) of Batesville, Jay Barnes of Batesville; two daughters, Katrina Crick (Ron) of Batesville, Sandy Barnes of Michigan; one brother, Johnny Barnes (Nan) of Truman; four sisters, Sue Carter of Indiana, Wanda Housley of Truman, Kay Rogers of Truman, Francis Battles of Truman; three grandchildren, Vashti Burns, Elizabeth Crick, Tristen Barnes, and several other grand and great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ed Barnes; six sisters, Lucille Lively, Betty Crouch, Glenda Pierce, Molly Rasdon, Lola Leslie and Luella Rhodes, one grandson and one great-grandson.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

This is my uncle JERRY he was (IS) a good man I grew up with him. We had great times and he made us tough and we laughed and cried together. My brother and I worked at a job he loved and would always come to watch us gin cotton until he couldn't make the trip anymore. It was always fun to hear his stories about how much different it was from when he worked at the same place when he was younger. I could tell all kinds of stuff and stories about our relationship all in all he was a great uncle and great man. Thank you UNCLE JERRY BARNES for being the person you were. I LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!
I was truly blessed to know Jerry. He was a good man and a great man of God. Julie Katrina Shawn Elizabeth Vashti Tristin, I am truly sorry for your loss but I know Bro Jerry is with our Lord. May God wrap his loving arms around you all in the days to come
