Gregory Scott Kimrey, Age 68, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Baptist Health in Little Rock, Arkansas with his family at his side. He was born July 23, 1955, in Ada, Oklahoma to Jim and Ann (Harrington) Kimrey.
The family moved to Magnolia, Arkansas, where Greg graduated from Magnolia High School. He then attended Southern Arkansas University, then he transferred to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrison, Arkansas. Greg was active in the Gideons and did jail ministry. When Greg met Nancy he was a student at SAU and Nancy was a Nursing student. During his morning training for track, he would always have Nancy's lunch in hand, ready to give her when she pulled up to meet him on her way to school. They were married the day after she graduated from nursing school.
Greg was preceded in death by his dad, Jim Kimrey.
Greg is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Kimrey; son, Destrey Cragan and (Cher) of El Dorado, Arkansas; daughters, Heather Rice and (Jamie) of Harrison, Arkansas, Melanie Cross and (Michael) of Crossett, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; mother, Ann Kimrey and sister, Dyan Kimrey of Tyler, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that will miss Greg.
The service was held Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Roller Christeson Funeral Home with Ryan Puls officiating. Visitation was on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. The interment was at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 1400 S. Pine Street, Harrison, Arkansas 72601.
I got to know Greg and Nancy at FBC Harrison. They were friendly and good people. We use to sing in the choir together for a time when Greg was able. Prayers for peace and comfort for Nancy and all the family in the days ahead.
