of Russellville, AR
January 10, 1938 - August 1, 2023
Dee Lin Jones of Rupert, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Berniece (Waddle) Jones. Dee Lin was the youngest of two sons of Dewey C. Jones and Syble (Montgomery) Jones. He was born on January 10, 1938 in Rupert, Arkansas. Dee Lin and Berniece were married on May 18, 1958 and moved to Wauconda, IL, where Dee Linn worked as a carpenter. For the next few years, they traveled between Wauconda and Rupert, as they made money in Illinois and would come to Arkansas in the winter to buy the farm. While in Illinois, Rocky and Tami were born. In 1968 they welcomed their third child, Calvin to the household.
In the mid-1960's, they moved back to Rupert where Dee Lin and his dad continued improving the farm and built the family home that they lived in for the next 60 years. Dee Lin traveled to Fairfield Bay and worked framing houses for the developing retirement community. He then traveled to Russellville and built houses, as he continued to improve his farm. In the early 1970's he quit traveling as a carpenter and started working as a fulltime rancher. He also managed a farm for Leland Gunn for a few years as a supplement income, which helped him to improve his farm and buy more cattle. While living in the Rupert community Dee Lin was involved in local groups such as the Alread School Board, ASCS and Farm Bureau Board of Directors. In 1981 the Jones Family Farm was chosen as Van Buren County's Farm Family of the Year. Widely known in Van Buren County as a knowledgeable cattleman, he was approached by many for help with veterinary services and advice. Dee Lin also coached youth baseball teams and coached teenage girls' softball teams.
Dee Linn was loved by his kids and his grandchildren. He taught them to work hard, to never turn down a challenge, to think on their feet and retain the respect of the family name. Many great times and adventures were had by his kids and grandkids while on the farm and the memories will live on forever.
In addition to his wife, Berniece, Dee Lin is survived by his children, Rocky (Cindy) Jones, Tami (Tom) Robinson and Calvin (Amy) Jones all of Russellville. His grandchildren: Caleb (Rachel) Jones of Russellville, Seth (Abby) Jones of Russellville, Lauren (Nick) Stinson of Atlanta, Georgia, Jonathan (Candace) Robinson of Rogers, Arkansas and David (Lauren) Robinson of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Dee Lin and Berniece also have 4 great grandchildren: Mason Jones, Wyatt Jones, Willis Robin-son, Mary Daniel Robinson and will be welcoming a fifth in January.
Dee Lin was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Syble Jones and his brother, Garner Ray Jones and his sister-in-law, Geraldine Jones.
Visitation will be at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton Friday, August 4th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, August 5th at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Friendship Church near Rupert with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery across the street from the church.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Jones, Seth Jones, Jonathan Robinson, David Robinson, Nick Stinson and Bryan Waddle.
