Mary Kathryn Davis Davis, age 85, passed from this life on Sunday, July 9 in West Memphis, AR surrounded by her children. She was the first child of Robert and Carmen Smith Davis and was born on August 10, 1937.
Mary was a woman of varied interests including a goal of visiting all 50 state capitals and nearly accomplished that goal, she loved riding snow mobiles in the mountains of Wyoming and Montana, she loved yellow roses and she loved attending George Strait concerts all over the country. Mary was a long-time member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clarence (Dave) Davis. As a Navy wife, she followed him to Navy bases around the Eastern seaport of the US. Upon his retirement from the Navy, they settled in West Memphis, where Dave had a second career at St. Jude Hospital. Also preceding Mary in death were her parents; two brothers, Gary and Don Davis; her granddaughter, Jennifer Ross and her grandson, Josh Waddel.
Surviving family includes her children, Robin Smith and Cheri Davis of Marion, AR; Scott (Sharon) Davis of Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren, Robert (Meagen) Smith, Taylor (Daniel) Meadows and Tyler (Madi) Davis; great grandchildren, Alan, Aiden, Isabella, Robbie and Lily Smith, Patience Ross, Jayden and Carmen Johnson and Declan Davis; brothers, Jim Davis, Roger Davis, Alfred Davis and Marty Davis and sisters, Brenda Thakkar and Donna Dauphin.
A Celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, July 22 at the Missouri Street Church of Christ. A reception and visitation will be held at 12:00 noon with the service starting at 1:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Mr. Lyndal Dale of the Missouri Street Church of Christ.
My condolences to you, Robin, and your siblings. I’ve got fond memories of your sweet mother. I’m sure she is rejoicing in heaven now.
We all have such great memories of Aunt Mary. She was so sweet and funny! She's one great angel!
We will miss Mary in our monthly Mid Continent gatherings. She was so sweet and we all enjoyed our times together. I know I will see her again some day.
