Helen P. Slayton, 91, of Jonesboro, AR went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2023 after a brief battle with blood cancer. She was born January 31, 1932 in Forrest City, AR to Jack and Virgie (Moore) Porter. Helen spent most of her life in Forrest City, West Helena and Jonesboro. She loved her family, her friends and her church. Helen was a business lady and a devout follower of Jesus. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 48 years, Robert Earl Teeter; a daughter, Robbie Sue Teeter and three sisters, Virgimai Abel, Rose Marie Lofton and Francis Chism Hurt.

Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Emmett Slayton Jr.; a daughter, Terri (Teeter) Dodd; grandchildren, Katie Norman and Mary (Jacob) Fouth Cornish; several nieces and nephews and her Agape Sunday School church friends.

Burial will be at Forrest Park Cemetery in St. Francis County on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 1PM. A memorial service will be announced at a later date to allow for attendance.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Helen's name to the Jonesboro Food Bank or St. Jude's Cancer Hospital.

All arrangements are under the care of Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Helen and I were back door neighbors in West Helena for several years. You cannot find a more caring person than Helen. She was well liked in West Helen and at her place of business A & T clothing store. She will be missed by many, but she is with our Lord now.
