JW Mize, age 86, of Big Flat, Arkansas passed from this earthly life on Sunday, July 9th, 2023 at NARMC in Harrison, Arkansas with family by his side. He was born in Cedar Creek, Arkansas on September 5th, 1936 to Seth Newton Mize and Irene Treat Mize.
Throughout his life, JW worked as a sheetrock finisher and shared his trade with his younger brothers, who shared it with their sons. JW enjoyed working on and trading cars. He loved to tell stories, but some to be taken with a grain of salt. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time with his good friend, Susie and driving from Big Flat to Marshall to get a McDonald's sausage biscuit and coffee.
JW was preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Irene Mize and one brother, Charles Mize.
Survivors include his children, Donnie Mize, John Wayne Mize, Kevin Mize, Nicole Enlow and Jim Hird; siblings, Willa Mullens (Herman), Earl Mize (Darlene), Paul Mize (Ruth), Ina Easter (Jim) and Marion Mize (Della); his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for JW will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 at Round Mountain Church near Big Flat with Bro. Charlie Rowe officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Treat Cemetery near Big Flat, Arkansas. Bearers will be Wayne Mize, Ricky Mize, Sammy Mize, Paul Dean Mize, Keith Mize and Daniel Mize.

My prayers that all will find comfort in the loss of their loved one. I didn't personally know J. W. but his grandmother, Marjorie, is my great aunt, a sister to my grandfather, so I feel kinship with all.

I loved J.W He had a great sense of humor n his smile was contagious..I've cut his hair many many times. He would always try n pay me and I would say no your going to take me out for catfish. Unfortunately we never got to do that..I will miss him dearly...
