James Clayborn Damon, 87, of Clarksville died Thursday, June 29, 2023 in Fayetteville. He was born February 28, 1936 in Danville to Clarence Belmont and Ann Vera (Kitchens) Damon. James had an outstanding sense of humor and constantly joked with everyone he met. He was a talented craftsman and enjoyed woodworking, masonry and gardening. James was also a Freemason. He proudly served with the United States Air Force. James also worked at Arkansas Nuclear One, retiring once before 2001 and returning to work after September 11. He then retired a second time.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Faye Damon; parents, Clarence and Ann Damon; one grandson, Greg Irwin; one brother and two sisters.
James is survived by one son, Tracy Damon; three step-sons, Charles Irwin, Larry Irwin and Louis Irwin; one step-daughter, Mary Thomas; six grandchildren, Deanna Damon, Todd King, Brent King, Penny Hartwick, Charles L. Irwin, Paul Irwin; numerous great-grandchildren and one brother, Coy Damon and wife, Paula.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial at Lone Pine Cemetery in Clarksville.
