of Lakeview, AR
April 29, 1931 - June 29, 2023
Lon C. Simpson, 92, of Lakeview, AR passed away June 29, 2023 in Ash Flat. He was born April 29, 1931 to Cletus and Levenia Simpson.
Lon was born in Jesup, AR, but later moved to Evening Shade, where he was raised. His early years were spent working alongside his family on their farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the land. This foundation served him well throughout his life. In his early adulthood, Lon proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, dedicating three years to the service of his nation.
Lon had a deep passion for the great outdoors, finding solace and joy in the beauty of nature. He enjoyed the thrill of hunting deer and elk. He also found peace while fishing for catfish on the river and exploring the Strawberry River and Bull Shoals Lake. These outdoor activities not only brought him joy but also served as opportunities to connect with family and friends. Lon found immense satisfaction in being outside and worked hard on his garden every year.
Lon is survived by his wife of 72 years, Billie Jean Simpson; two sons, Joey (Diane) Simpson and Lynn (Debbie) Simpson; three grandchildren, Brian, Kristen and Jennifer; five great grandchildren, Shelby, Josh, Hunter, Avery and Linley; one great-great grandchild, Aspyn and one sister, Linda Serafin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Denzil, Dale and Devoe Simpson.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 3, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home. A funeral service will start at 11:00 with burial to follow at Baxter Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home. Please visit our online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/mtnhome.

Ms. Billie, we are so saddened to hear of Lonnie's passing, even though we know that the angels in heaven are rejoicing and that Jesus welcomed him with open arms. Archie and I love you both because you welcomed us to MBC with so much love and you and Lonnie showed us how to be faithful to God and His church. Hugs and love. Archie and Jeannie Hall.
We are so sorry for your loss. May God bless your family.
Lon’s warmth and wacky sense of humor are greatly missed. He was always full of jokes, stories and teasing. I got him back once as a teenager by showing up unexpectedly from Michigan. He was so surprised to see me he couldn’t remember my real name and called me by the nickname only he called me, Suzie Q.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. God bless.
